Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
I w I would say that the NFB1AMP is neutral. That is why I got it instead of the Jot. It is an amazing amp, the only downside is that it is BIG.- JuanCamiloso

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
The Elear were very nice. Yes, upper mids are a little bit absent, but the sound is quite fun. I really enjoyed the Elears until the left driver died.... Now I have the Aeon Closed. I am pairing them with a Mimby/NFB1AMP and a NFB11.28 and they actually sound very nice. Very neutral sound, good...- JuanCamiloso

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
Instead of the Bifrost, I think that you would be Ok with the mimby. Btw, I would highly suggest the Audio-gd NFB-11.28, it really sounds good with the Elear.- JuanCamiloso

Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!
Well, just received my 11.28. Excellent build and sound, I am very satisfied with this guy. About the USB drivers, I have windows 10 with the latest updates and I don't have problems with the USB drivers. I use musicbee as my music player. The device works nicely with the DirectSound option. If...- JuanCamiloso

Another one could be the cable for the Beyerdynamic t5p and t1 second, also the balanced cable is not so expensive :)- JuanCamiloso

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
When I was testing the Elears during the first weeks, I was driving them to unbearable volume levels and was obtaining those clipping noises. I contacted Focal and they answered this: After that, I have been listening to the Elears with normal volumes with no problem at all.- JuanCamiloso

Ether Flow vs Focal Elear
I really love the Elears and find that they perform really well for rock and metal. They are punchy and very dynamic. I do not have any problem with any 10 kHz peak or similar. These headphones, however, may be a hit or miss, I would recommend you to try them before making a decision.- JuanCamiloso

Audio-gd NFB-28
I had the same issue with the Jot vs Audio GD. In the end, after doing some research, I decided to go with the combo Schiit Modi multibit + audio gd NFB-1AMP (Both bought from European retailers). I am very satisfied with the setup and I am using it to drive a Focal Elear and a Senn HD800S with...- JuanCamiloso

Yes, sir, the clipping noise is normal. It is a design choice to avoid distortion at high volumes. The Utopias also have the same safety mechanism, although at higher levels.- JuanCamiloso

There is more clamping, but the pads become softer with time. It is just a personal matter, you can increase the clamping as much as you like. I bent the headband as much that my ears touched the drivers but it was uncomfortable, so I found a middle ground between the sound that I liked and...- JuanCamiloso

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
Well, after more than 120 hours with the headphones I would like to report that I am really pleased with them, notably for rock and metal. For classical and instrumental music I still prefer the HD800S. I would like to add, though, that bending the headband (especially the metal parts that...- JuanCamiloso

Most Comfortable Headphones
In my case, the most comfortable over-ear headphones that I have ever worn are the Sennheiser HD800s, which are also excellent for gaming. Regarding portables, the most comfortables for me were the V-moda XS, though, they are on-ear.- JuanCamiloso
