Sum / merge 2-channel signals to mono - unbalanced RCAs
Found this: before the speaker output stage, you want your load side to present Hi-Z input. This is especially important as cabling gets longer and devices with weaker signals, to avoid the circuit getting "loaded down". So, apparently on the input side of these units, source impedance does nor...- john61ct

Sum / merge 2-channel signals to mono - unbalanced RCAs
RCA wanted for unbalanced "consumer" line level -10 dBu both input and output I am not a DIYer, no matter how "simple" the project - I am willing to pay for OTS ready to go. Any feedback on this handmade option? https://www.ebay.com/itm/394182979363 Looking to feed a consumer type preamp...- john61ct

Schiit Syn Surround Processor Reviews/Impressions
Looking for a standalone high pass filter? want to avoid an expensive full crossover rig, DSP etc. Use case is maximising SPL per watt, while preventing distortion / damage of my OG passive LS50s, used as a front main pair I believe Syn has low pass out - non-adjustable 80Hz - for the sub...- john61ct

Better than Creek, under $180
Wow pricier but I like the flexibility with balanced in/out as well, also extra power, thanks! Came across Periodic Nickel also pricey but so much more portable... I guess need to compare to Creek's OBH-21SE once blowing through the budget? The Cavelli unit seems best value for money.- john61ct

Better than Creek, under $180
As a basis for comparison, Creek Audio OBH-11, 10 mW into low to medium impedance HPs, 30 ohm to 300 ohm Say one is available for $150 delivered including the OBH-Uni 24V power supply. Many say this is old hat tech, not so great compared to what's available these days. So, suggestions...- john61ct

Transformers for Balanced to SE conversion.
Anyone know if the multi-port TecNec "On the Level" units are good, clean? Billed as "Bi-Directional Audio Impedance Matcher" as good as Aphex? If their use cases differ, please explain- john61ct

The Qudelix-5K thread
should be able to wire an external mic port from the headset TRRS? would be great to just use a ModMic Uni with whatever HPs you currently favoured I understand it doesn't work in DAC mode. Funny, exactly the inverse problem with Schiit HEL! Mayflower ARC Mk2 does both, others?- john61ct

Consensus so far is the Q5K is a bit better, both USB DAC and LDAC modes. Especially with HPs connected from the balanced outputs.- john61ct

Is this because USB type-C to type-C, the whole idea of "special OTG" has gone away? Or something specific to the hardware involved here?- john61ct

any experience with the Douk U2 - XMOS U208 based USB to SPDIF converter ?
dunno, looks good Topping D10 has been measured over at AudioScience, apparently works as well as Schiit Eitr, now discontinued selling for $150+ when they come up on eBay. Most cost effective option is probably just choosing a replacement DAC really getting crazy cheap but good these days. I...- john61ct
