My BTR3 can't turn on by button press or even when plugging in directly to a charger or pc. Is another one else having the same issue? It seems to turn on if I leave it in the charger long enough. But when it does, it dies again quickly. Its only 6 months old :(

I think Spotify song files has it's own propriety codec and its decoded by spotify app in your iphone to PCM format. Then this PCM data is sent via bluetooth over AAC protocol to an AAC capable bluetooth receiver. If your headphones is not AAC capable, your iphone automatically switches to SBC...

Using the M2S as a DAC. Windows Computer -> Shanling M2S -> earphone/headphone
