Feedback by 'jlaseter' on listing 'Grado RS1'

I'm extremely happy with the condition of the headphones and the seller's communication throughout the transaction and shipping. I give a solid recommendation here!

While I agree this is true most of the time for pad rolling, it's an absolute delight finding exceptions to the rule. Quarter-modded S-cush/HD414 pads, and upgrading S-cush to L-cush on my SR80i, were indispensable when I started this hobby. Occasional flats on the RS2i, HF3, and HP2 give me...

With highly pronounced bass they might be a good candidate for G-cush pads?

I don't know whether I'd call them neutral, but I'd describe the HP-2 (same as HP-1, sans polarity switches) as the most revealing headphones I've heard. But I've had limited experience in the realm of "flagship" headphones, so take that as you will. In terms of build quality, however, it's...

Am I a weirdo for thinking that Grado cables are fantastic? If they were removable and not included, I'd buy the same cable anyway, considering the price of the extension cables. Used to be that all the best cables were thicker, had fewer strands, had higher purity, etc. If the 12-conductor...

"Loudness" is one of my favorite things present in retro hi-fi systems, and I hope it shows up more in modern equipment. From my experience, it brings up frequencies that tend to be masked with low volume listening, with the result that low volume can be every bit as enjoyable as high volume...

With the GH2, EQ seems like I'm substituting my sound for the one the headphone already provides well. Surprisingly, I do use the Schiit Lokius on my HP2 though. Only a touch of boost to the highs, and it doesn't feel wrong since it's a slight change, and the headphone has the capacity to sound...

Out of what I've tried, I'd say the SR225e. It's just craunchy fun. But I haven't heard the Hemp.

I'm gonna get kicked outta the Grado Fan Club if I keep advocating for Koss! I have thought about doing a Koss+cups n' headband mod though. The KSC75 would make great faux Grados! I'd love to try it with those or the Nakamichi SP7.

Yeah, they clip to the driver body in the same way. Each can be removed by gently pulling, and attached by aligning and pushing gently until it clicks. The KSC75 clips seem a little loose/wiggly by comparison, but they stay put when worn, and feel miles better.

I (just) tried it, I own both the KSC35 and KSC75, and there's no issue putting KSC75-compatible Yaxi pads on the KSC35. However, the KSC35 have really uncomfortable stock earclips, so I did swap in a set of KSC75 clips.

Same. I'm hoping to get to hear Stax L700 some day.

The Epiphany moment for me was the SR80i playing Bruckner's 7th Symphony 1st movement. I was gobsmacked at the experience headphones could deliver. The subsequent 325is and RS2i were mere refinements and didn't impress nearly as much. Had a few others, but most recently I've been very impressive...

Love the KPH40, and it's clear from those, the KPH30i, KSC75, and PortaPro that Grado aren't the only ones delivering stellar sound at low prices. The comparison I did in my signature placed KPH40 as a very high-tier headphone, and I tried out some Grado (aftermarket) bowl pads with them as well!
