I'm using Fubar2000 with my xonar essence STX and sennheiser HD650, do I have to do anything to make sure kernel streaming is being utilized?

No, but if the quality can be greatly improved by putting a nicer cable on it, then I can afford to do it. 

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650 headphones, and I am on regular onboard sound on my PC.  My question is, should I get an Audio-GD amp or an Essence STX sound card?  I play a ton of games and listen to a lot of music too, so what do you guys think?    

I've never really had headphones that had interchangeable cables before, so I was just wondering if its really a drastic difference when you upgrade the cable?  If it is, what is the best bang for the buck as far as HD 650 cables go?      

So do you think an audio-gd fun would be better than buying an asus essense STX?  I am using these for lots of gaming and music listening.

Can I hook up the audio-gd fun to my computer and then just plug my headphones into that?  or do I also have to buy a nice sound card and then hook the audio-gd fun to that?

I'm getting ready to order a pair of Sennheiser HD650s and I am just wondering what I should get to power them.  I will only be using them on my PC, for listening to music and playing games, so do I get a good sound card like an ASUS Xonar STX?  Or do I get an amp or DAC?  I really don't know...
