    AKG K550 MKII?

Well, it is interesting indeed! You might have added the K551 to the list - those are the K550 with a shorter cable for smartphone use with buttons and microphone.   You've said that K550, K550 mk2 and K553 are the same and sound the same. Well I had a different opinion on that (K550mk1 >...

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

Well, the cost of those cans is big for a regular polish dude :) I would certainly make an effort on Saturday and visit a shop to make a decision.

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

Strew, I'm from PL as well. Regarding the timing of forum complaints on the SRH940 broken plastics - I had the same conclusion. I've even tried to keep track of secondhand 940s in PL, and it turned out that the ones produced in 2010-2011 had cracks, newer one did not. I've asked sellers for...

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

to sum up the list, I'm going to listen to fostex t-50RP mk3. I've crossed the 271s and SRH-940 from the list. The 271 are much harder to handle on the move than K550mk1 and 940s have to much bass for me.

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

from my research it looks like that there was a batch around 2010-2011 that was bad. The new ones should be ok.

    AKG K550 MKII?

@RockStar2005 "and now for something completely different". You say you have K553, heard K550 and had the Oppo PM-3. How would you compare the planars to the AKGs?

    AKG K550 MKII?

170 USD + 90 USD shipping? That is 260 USD and in local money about 1030 zł (polish currency). AKG K550 costs below 600 zł, K550 mk2 about 750 zł. Buying K553 here if you can have for example both K550 and K271 mk2 for the same money does not make sense :)

    AKG K550 MKII?

Hey, thanks for the tip!. Unfortunately I live in Poland, and the K553 is not available here. I'm also very reluctant to purchasing headphones without listening to them first. I also need a proper european VAT invoice for tax reasons. So sorry, this will not fly.   As for the DAC/AMP, I'm...

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

I'm crossing the K550 mkII of the list. Why: http://www.head-fi.org/t/785515/akg-k550-mkii#post_12316021   I still need to listen to the AKG K271 MK2, NAD and Focal. K550 old version is still in the game, if I manage to find a pair in some forgotten warehouse. The ones I've listened were not...

    AKG K550 MKII?

Just wanted to add my 2c here.   I'm looking for something to outdo my SRH440 in terms of midrange and treble and would not ruin me financially. I was in a listening room yesterday with my old cans, the new K550 mk2, K550 old ones, Shures SRH840 and Brainwavz HM5.   Long story short - the...

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

Hey, one more thing - would you recommend the AKG K271 mk2 as well? Or not?

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

Hey, thanks for the tip. Since I'd like the cans to work 5-6 years without breaking, I think I'll skip the SRH940.   So I have to check out: AKG K550 AKG K550 mkII (these are available here already) NAD viso HP50 Focal Spirit Professional   The K's are interesting since the Internet...

Looking for a good sealed set <$150. Here is what I've tried:

I have the SRH440 and have listened to the Sennheisers 380 a bit. The SRH440 provide good mids, treble and clarity for the price, the 380 have much more bass and are not as good in other regions in my opinion.   Considering what you wrote the SRH440 might be right - these are balanced, some...

Shure SRH940 - do they still break? Or what else?

Hi!   I'm interested in getting the SRH940. I've read everything that pops up on 3 first pages of google results on those cans, and I've seen a large amount of complaints about the plastics breaking (search on google images "srh940 cracks"). Someone said, that the plastics were bad in 2011...
