Fabio's TOTL stereo
Hey all, Saw this on another forum I frequent and thought others may find it interesting. I guess Fabio is quite the audiophile. I saw some STAX in the first part but couldn't tell what they are. Enjoy! http://youtu.be/zPLZHU0BZ3M- hrbballman

Orthodynamic Roundup
So....did anyone on the Ortho forum win the Yh-5Ms that were on ebay? I'd love to know if they sound any good or if they are just a showboat of a headphone.- hrbballman

I disagree about the ss-100 not having bass. Its certainly not a bass head's phone but it is there and pretty well defined. For example, the bass drum that plays every measure in Stravinsky's rite of spring sounds deep and prety accurate. There is also that slam present that gives you goose...- hrbballman

Sony DR-Z6 (Vintage)
Theses were just my impressions after listening for 1-2 hours with very select music(not anywhere close to enough time to actually evaluate the headphone). I should have prefaced the post with it being an initial impression. I agree that the bass is fully represented and extends down quite low...- hrbballman

Sony DR-Z6 (Vintage)
Just picked up a pair of these. I was initially disappointed but after allowing my ears to adjust to their Initially bright presentation I was blown away by how detailed the sound is. These puppies are fast and detailed. Bass is all their, howeever, the drz6 lacks that emotive slam I sometimes...- hrbballman

I don't know if this has been posted but here is the driver for the sansui ss-100. I either use the headphone out of my sansui au-919 or the sansui-esque black spl phonitor. I love all things sansui!- hrbballman

HD800 and T1 musings...
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately I will not have a chance to listen to either. I've always just made a leap based on reviews with headphones because I'm afraid that if I hear multiple I will then want them all. I've heard the hd800 is magnificent with classical. How does the t1 treat...- hrbballman

HD800 and T1 musings...
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm really split between the hd800 and the t1. As of now I'm leaning towards the hd800 because it seems to be popular among more people than the t1. I will be powering whichever one I get with the SPL phonitor. I have owned the hd650 and Beyer dt880 and...- hrbballman

The new Sansui SS-100 Thread
Quote: Well the Sansui of today is nothing like the Sansui of the 70s. Sansui was bought and sold a few times by big firms and their name was dragged through the dirt. They now have their name on tvs, however, Sansui audio is available in the UK. Its not like the old stuff but has gained...- hrbballman

The new Sansui SS-100 Thread
Quote: Sorry for a late reply! I don't have any experience with either the HD600 or the he-500, however, I prefer the tonal qualities of the SS-100 over the HD650. I used to own the Beyer DT880 and although I never had the chance to side by side the ss100 and the DT880, from what I recall...- hrbballman
