I think tube amps make a good combination with the HD800. A "cheap" option could be an Icon Audio HP8 MKII, a little beast that gives the HD800 more body and a fantastic bass.  And in the future you can upgrade it with Jensen or Mundorf Silver Gold Oils caps and Full Music tubes, for example.  ...

High-fidelity, I don't understand your answer at all. When you said "...use AK120 with a great amp....", you mean that I would have to add an amp to the AK120 to drive properly the HD800? Or you mean that I could use the AK120 directly with the HD800?
