  1. On-the-ear Studio Monitor Headphones

Great cheaper version of the split headband variety. I have a few pairs of these and they have lasted very well. Slightly veiled sound, which works out perfect for DJing in clubs with large volume - bright cans at high volume for a few hours are painful on the ears and give me a headache, these with their slightly recessed highs are perfect for longer high volume sessions.    The headband could benefit some padding - i used the padding from a crappy pair of old brandless headphones i found on a pair of these and it makes a big difference to the...
  2. Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones

After reading reviews here and learning about the Denon drivers, i went for a pair of these for the office. They are surprisingly comfortable to wear, the soft pleather pads perfectly covering the ears, with the only discomfort issue being that your ears warm up a bit after a while. Great sound isolation from outside. Short cord length makes them portable - I quite often wash the car wearing these cans, and the short cord means no snagging etc.   The headband plastic looks a little fragile, i'm not sure these could live in and out of a bag, also...
  3. Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic

    4.50 star(s)
Bought these from an apple reseller store so probably paid over the odds. Sound really clear at the top end, little bit lacking in bass punch, although this is improved with better fitting buds. I find a medium Sennheiser but/tip a perfect fit, but with these, the medium bud is a little small and falls out easily, and the large is just too big. I went for the highly rated Comply Foam tips which were £15 for 3 pairs and are superb. They discolour with ear wax though :( . But the noise cancelling is great, really good in flight. They are basically an...
  4. Shure SRH 440 Professional Studio Headphones

    2.50 star(s)
Bought these based on the good reviews. Tried and tried but they were just so uncomfortable i sold them. Way too much pressure on the ears, plus the headband never sat well either. Most uncomfortable cans i've ever tried on. Shame, as they sounded pretty good.
  5. Koss KSC75 Portable Stereophone Headphones

    5.00 star(s)
Bought purely out of curiosity after reading so many Head-Fi-ers say great things about them. Simply amazed at the sound quality to price ratio. I love these headphones! I can wear them for hours. In fact i forget they are there after a while.
  6. Sennheiser HD 590 Headphones

    5.00 star(s)
I've had these cans for over 10 years and they have been great. Super comfy to wear - I can wear them for 2-3 hours at a time. Rather bulky if you have to cart them around. The sound is typical Sennheiser, clean, crisp and fairly neutral. Lacking in bass possibly. Lovely delicate highs. Being open backed, they leak sound like crazy and used to annoy my colleagues in the office :)
