Noise canceling headphones
You should see what the Bose can do in terms of noise cancelling then compare to the isolation quality of some of the IEMs out there. For example something like a pair of Shure IEMs can actually block out a lot of noise. So you may not need to go with active noise cancelling. Although the...- gotak

Venture Electronics VE Zen 2.0 impressions and discussion thread
I find they drive fine with even just my phone. There are lot of people who say otherwise but to each their own. I think a lot of folks seems to need very high volumes. For me these gets more than loud enough in the first half of the volume control on my LG G3. As for quality (the other...- gotak

Mid/High End Headphone Help
Are you going to take these out and about? If the answer is yes that makes a difference as the ones you listed are all not exactly travel friendly. Now that's said... the following is just my point of view. I am have looked at the x00 from massdrop a few times and thought about them...- gotak

Need help with IEM recommendation
Just picked up a pair of DN-2000. You can find them for about 250 USD. They are really quite good. I see why some folks say they are end game IEMs for them. At their price to me I can't see much else that are as good.- gotak

Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread
Try stretching out the head band. I don't use anything and it's fine. The out of box clamping is a bit heavy for some folks.- gotak

Which one is the best of these
Inline answers: Momentum - Good, but look up the sennheiser veil. Basically there's are part of their tuning that cuts into the mids. Momentum on ear - Don't, they don't sound so good. ATH-M50 (or an X) - I tired those recently. Pretty good I can see why they are recommended...- gotak

Mids are not recessed but not exactly forward either. Details are OK I think the much cheaper MSR7 has better details actually.- gotak

Looking to try something different.
I got the HE-400s. I like them. It's a very Sennheiser-like set of headphones but without the so call veil that some senn phones has. I also just took delivery of the ATH-MSR7. And I see why it's on the innerfidelity wall. I would recommend either but the MSR7 can sound a bit hot in the...- gotak

NEW 2015 - HIFIMAN HE400S
This is a hobby. One that is majority dominated by men. Just like car forums where people will beat the dead horse that the civic is fast, and that VTEC just kicked in yo. There will be those who owns the old stuff and align their "size" to how good their stuff is. And as a result need to...- gotak

NEW 2015 - HIFIMAN HE400S
Some folks are too enamoured of amps and the "magic" it can do. I tried a test and LG G3 direct to HE-400S sound exactly the same as LG G3 to amp then HE-400S. So what does that tell us? Maybe it isn't the ability to drive that's the limiting factor. As for roll off of this or that...- gotak

Sennheiser's Momentum 2.0 aren't actually that good...
So now you know Momentums comes with colored sound. And it's not something for everyone. I still use my 1.0 sometimes it's not really a critical listening set of headphones. But the tuning is very easy on the ears so you can use them for a long time without feeling tired out. And it's a ok...- gotak

Amp recommendation for 32ohm headphones
O2 all the way. Check out the massdrop one right not for 69 something dollars or so. You really should be looking for a transparent Amp. If you want a bass hump you can add that with an EQ setting or the right headphones. While getting an Amp with a bass hump built in is well just limiting...- gotak

NEW 2015 - HIFIMAN HE400S
Anyone noticing the sharp rise or spike at certain area of treble? I find tracks with moderate frequencies great. And tracks that has transient treble ok too. But when you take certain classical tracks with sustained notes at some frequency its like getting a tiny treble spike into your ear. It...- gotak
