Hi. You said earlier that you use 3 x ad797 opamps, can you please tell me how these compared to the stock opamps or any other opamps you have tried. I am thinking of the ad797's myself and will appreciate some feedback. Many thanks

Hi. I am not using the acm, am using speakers and not headphones. I am using external amps, three quad power amps to produce the 5.1 sound. It's a shame only the front channels can be op-amp rolled on the soundblaster ae-9, i still have the asus stx II soundcard and all the channels can be...

Okay, i am searching around trying to find more about all the bios information before me. There is an option to use onboard graphics or use the pci-e slot for graphics, at the moment this is set to auto, i'll try onboard only and see what effect it has. Also i've picked up a second atx power...

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I am using a corsair 600 watt, does corsair have a good reputation? I am using the extra connector, read somewhere that this is only for the breakout box but i am certainly using it. It is a good point you make about the pci slot only being for video...

Do soundcards get affected by the motherboard they are slotted into. Am getting poor sound quality using the ae-9. Trying to figure it out. Is this soundcard something i can plug into any motherboard and it will work immediatly or is there a possible compatibility issue. Have you ever heard of...

    ASUS Xonar Essence STX II

Like most here i found the stock of 8920 x 2, and 8820 x 1 a little deficent in the treble. Using 8820 x 2 and 8920 x1 seems to bring the treble back, does that mean the 8820 is a sharper sounding opamp and 8920 may be a little more bassy. Thanks!

HI. How would you describe the sound signature of the muse 01 versus 02. The 02 is the more recent chip but seems to have rolled off highs. The 02 seems to have better highs but not so lively and energetic. Would i be better off using the 02 and applying a little eq to bring out the highs...

    The Opamp thread

How much of a difference is there between sparkos dual and muse 02, i know the answer is somewhere in this thread but to help me from having to read through hundreds of pages, can you please help. Is there a minor improvement, or is it more night-and-day. Thank you

    The Opamp thread

Just purchased sparkos opamps for an asus stxII soundcard and have replaced the 3 muses, What do think about increasing the size of the 220uf capacitor across the opamp power lines to help provide more power and stability. The sparkos are class A and have a higher current draw, do you think...

Okay, what is your budget.   Which direction do you want to move in.   What do you feel is lacking about your current set up.

    asus stx soundcard slider issue

Hi And thanks for reading this post.   I picked up an asus stx II 7.1 soundcard with daughter board a few weeks ago and have been fiddling around with the options.   In the main menu there is a slider for directing the centre channel to the left and right speakers, which i like as it gives...

Seems to be just all headphone stuff, are you not interested in amp / speakers.   An external dac would be best, and most have headphone sockets.   I'm using the audiolab m-dac, this would be a good move.   Can you tell me if you are staying with headphones, or if you have different...
