You managed to solder U5 (DAC) in so I don't see why you have trouble to solder U4. You made your life a bit harder by putting the beads and capacitors already in around the U4 area. Aren't you missing a pin on the left 3 + 5 header? Will this be mated with a Gamma1? Regards- GeWa

Can you post a picture of the circuit board so we can see how far you got. It will be hard to solder SMD parts if it's already populated with other through hole parts. Regards- GeWa

The key ingredient here is solder flux. Flux the pads and pins thoroughly and tip each pin with a good tinned solder-tip. A 1,6mm solder-tip works even better than a 0,8mm because there is much more heat in the tip. At the age of 48 and an eyesight that is not what it used to be I manage quite...- GeWa

My first Gamma1 now in operation in the bedroom system, I was really happy to got it working from the first power up. It sits between de Squeezebox Duet and my Tuner/Amp. Still need to replace the Duet wall-wart with a Sigma11. The new PS is already put together and tested. Regards- GeWa
