Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.
My HD 540s bought a couple of years ago in excellent condition from a German seller on eBay have suddenly stopped working:-( They are just completely dead, no sound at all from either channel. There was no gradual loss of sound, or fall out in one channel, just complete silence. At first I...- gammarayson

Neumann NDH 30
The cheapest price for these in Denmark:- https://www.scandinavianphoto.dk/neumann/ndh-30-1054628 Thats about €503. It says to contact customer service (kundeservice) for international orders. I've had mine a couple of days. Beautifully made, very comfortable and the tuning is perfect for me...- gammarayson

3 new Ultrasone Signature Headphones: Master, Natural and Pulse
I have owned the SIgnature Pros for a few years. They are my only closed back, but such fun to listen to with a lot of character. I am curious how the new Signature Masters compare? Are they a worthwhile upgrade to the Pros or only marginally improved?- gammarayson

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
I bought a second hand pair of the original HE1000s a couple of months ago. I love them and and they have been on my head almost exclusively for that time. My reference headphones are Stax SR 007 mk 2 and the original Sennheiser HD800. Subsequently I managed to pick up a used pair of HE1000SEs...- gammarayson

Best classical recordings...ever!
This is one of my desert island discs, Glenn Gould's final 1981 recording of the Goldberg Variations. You have very good taste in music, my friend:-)- gammarayson

Best classical recordings...ever!
Yes, I love Pettersson's music, but you do have to be in the right mood. I have the complete symphonies on CPO and some of the BIS recordings-- gammarayson

Hifiman HE1000-SE
Please can someone here help me find a replacement leather head strap and ear pads for these, preferably from an EU source. I couldn't find much on eBay and they seem to be sold out elsewhere. Thanks:-)- gammarayson

Any ultrasone fans out there?
I have owned the Signature Pros for quite a while and they are one of my favourite headphones. Excellent allrounders and sturdily built. I once tried the infamous Edition 10s which were truly dreadful and with horrible treble. I also owned the Edition 15 Unlimited which were quite nice but they...- gammarayson

Stax 404 system longevity (and ESL cans in general)
I bought my Stax Lambda Pros in 1988. A couple of years ago one of the drivers developed a mild squeal(which probably wouldn't bother most people) so I sent them in to a Stax specialist in Germany and they were replaced with a new old stock driver. I also recently replaced the pads and headband...- gammarayson

Neumann NDH 20
Thanks for your replies. I enjoy both open and closed headphones for what they can bring to the music, I own both the original Sennheiser HD800s and the closed Ultrasone Signature Pros which are very good with the tonality of string instruments, particularly cellos, whereas the HD800s strength...- gammarayson

I am also interested in opinions about the suitability of these for classical music, particularly piano and chamber music, not so much big orchestral works.- gammarayson
