IMR Audio : Sonic Adventures & Impressions

Update: got email from Bob, seems everything is ok. Waiting for new updates :) Edp Ace and Halcyons are the only IMR in my collection and the only cheap ones left. Had my hands over Fir Xenon6 recently - that has some of the greatest imr-like sound, with great weight to bass like old-school...

IMR Audio : Sonic Adventures & Impressions

Hi guys, does anyone hear from Bob after a new year? I want to repair my halcyons, but no one responds to my emails. I’m curious if IMR is still operating, or it’s gone.

In general, I like IMR iems with quite neutral players, as otherwise it can be too much of “fun”.

Sure, Avalon sounds spectacular with dx320max, smooth and analog with the stage on top tier level, super big and realistic, but not in expense of emotions and bass textures. Also, effect audio ares (4wire) works well with Avalon by accentuating treble a bit more than stock.

There are many other minor issues with software, like: - disable "double tap to wake up" doesn't work when device goes to standby mode. The device still can be woken up by double tap from standby mode. - "maximum digital volume output" doesn't set the volume to 100%, but just locks the volume...

Agree! My favorite small dap is Hiby R5 Saber. It has old android and not the most resolving capabilities, but it works decent as usb transport and the sound is musical and energetic. Works great with darker iems. It’s pity that all decent modern android players are much bigger.

I can get your point. If IMR trust and delivery issues are the biggest your problem - you must be one of the luckiest people on Earth. 1-st World problems moment 😂 But also we don’t have to eat Bobs sh**t silently without giving any feedback here.

It’s very funny because Bob actually exploits “drivers first” prejudice, by putting some fancy combinations of drivers in his IEMs. I’m 100% sure he can achieve even more mature sound with less of a fancy stuff, just by putting more effort in tuning and designing the iems. As I see, his...

Same for me, I’ll probably get one if there are any in the stock sometime in the future. I like IMR round shells, they seem to work better for me than EDP-like shells of new generations. And I hope sometime Bob will make anatomical shape housings like Noble and many other iems.

Common thing with cables. You never know how it would sound before trying :)

same for me mest mk2 is waaay thinner than Avalon and most of IMR’s. It feels like lower midrange is their weakest place. So I use CEMA 22awg copper with Mest mk2 to bring more body to the sound. But on the other side, mest mk2 isolates exceptionally well and are my 1-st choice for noisy places.

Same for me, Avalon is thumpy and very fast in bass with great mids (only with deep fit, when BC starts to sing).
