The Fiio X3 Thread.
I recently plugged my X3 into a rental car's USB port for charging. The player entered DAC mode, I gather, and I got a reminder on the X3's screen to eject it from the PC before unplugging it. I was of course unable to eject the player, though, as the car in question didn't have any such...- Elladan

Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread
I've auditioned the C5, and found the DN1000 to be way out of its league. Although the C5 offers a very attractive design, the DN1000 is just as pretty, and as I don't believe the ear guides on the C5 are detachable, it's way more usable. Those ear guides cause lots of tangles during storage...- Elladan

Haven't heard the 315, but they're enormously better than the 215, and I actually prefer them to the 535 that I auditioned.- Elladan

Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread
The Auvios are wide-bore. The Monsters are narrow. I didn't experience sibilance with the Monsters, but others have reported it from narrow-bore tips. My experience has been that tips of most any description can be sibilant when inserted very deeply -- I heard it worst with the supplied...- Elladan

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Thanks for the reply, Joe. I have read back about thirty pages in this thread, so I was aware of some of these fixes, though I was a bit confused. I thought that the current FW would look like the pictures posted earlier by JamesFiio, but I gather that's the yet-to-release version. Having...- Elladan

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Dang. It's a good thing the X3 sounds as good as it does. This UI is a bit of a mess. No albums by Artist? That's an awfully elementary omission. When I synched to my SD card, MediaMonkey adjusted my file structure to create "Artist - AlbumName" folders for each album so I get a list of...- Elladan

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Is there a way to add more than one song at a time to Favorites? Going one song at a time for a 1300-track playlist will be no fun at all. For example, could I synch the playlist (and nothing else) to the SD card, scan the library, "add all" to favorites, then add the rest of my desired albums...- Elladan

Agreed. Though Monster Gel Supertips offer an interesting experience if you like bass. : ) Sorry for the DP.- Elladan

Try the Auvios from Radio Shack if you're in NA. They're $5US for two pair, but the fit the barrel securely and give me a similar sound to the grays, only better. I also ordered some Comply T400 Larges because the ones supplied were just too small to seal reliably without uncomfortably deep...- Elladan

Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread
Meusicfrek, see my last post. The Auvios are perfect. I've had trouble with tips coming off, as well, but only Monster gels and foams (the latter are hard to get out of my ears once they come off the nozzles!). The stocks haven't given me any trouble.- Elladan

Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread
Hi, folks. I've had my DN-1000s for nearly a week now. I had a lot of trouble finding the right tips and insertion depth. The Complys were best, but not ideal, because they didn't seal particularly well with my large ear canals. In fact, nothing I tried seemed to give me a good, consistent seal...- Elladan

DAP-off! Astell&Kern, Sony, HiFiMan, Chord, FiiO, Lotoo, Soundaware, Hiby, Cayin & others
Even with a Fiio E6 set to flat EQ, the Moto X shows a little improvement in bass and maaaybe detail...but at the cost of significant amp noise. I just got the phone, and it's otherwise perfect, so the decision is really a) suck it up, b) use the Fuze/Headsix stack, or c) get a new player. ...- Elladan

DAP-off! Astell&Kern, Sony, HiFiMan, Chord, FiiO, Lotoo, Soundaware, Hiby, Cayin & others
LOL. Was really only referring to the DAPs within reasonable price distance of the DX50. I'm just going to have to keep hoping to find an AK240 lying in the street. FWIW, I read after posting that that the AK120's OI was 3. The AK100's is 22!- Elladan

DAP-off! Astell&Kern, Sony, HiFiMan, Chord, FiiO, Lotoo, Soundaware, Hiby, Cayin & others
Thanks, Earbones. My IEMs are Dunu DN-1000s, which have an impedance of 10 ohms, and an efficiency of 98dB. Both of those numbers are fairly low among IEMs, and I'm finding that the Moto X doesn't drive them all that well. I get too little bass (which is where most of the energy should be...- Elladan

WHICH COWON PRODUCT HAS THE BEST SOUND QUALITY ?
Thanks for the reply, friend. I'm actually concerned about the output impedance on the Sony, as the DN-1000 has an impedance of 10ohms, and according to the 1/8 rule, that suggests I need something with an output impedance of <1.125. I wish Sony would actually publish specs like these! I...- Elladan
