Ok.  I kind of had some of the same thoughts.  Thanks for the referral to diyaudio.  Since there is no build plan or anything for this out on the net it would definitely be easier DIY audio newbies like us if we found a comparable project on diyaudio.  Thanks for your feedback.

Personally I've got a very limited knowledge about speakers and audio in general (though over the years I've tried to pick things up here and there) but my dad passed these speakers onto me as I was in the market and they were his spares (JBL N28, Northridge Series) and I was just wondering if...

I don't have much listening experience as far as headphones go (I only have the audio technica ath-ad700's, grado sr-60's, and etymotic ER-6i's), nor do I have basically any experience with amps and such... but assuming the sr-80 is similar to the sr-60, it is a good listening experience but...

also, i'm not much of a DIY-er but i truly appreciate your post about it nightfire. that will be invaluable information later on. right now I can barely construct a cMoy amp by myself, but now that winter break is coming up i can finish up that project and post some pictures. hopefully it will work.
