To be honest, comparing the Explorer 2 to the 100r i don't hear much difference...... Like yourself I'd like to have tried it though.

It's odd I have tried to use explorer 2 with pioneer, as you say it does not power up. Works flawlessly though my phone though.

Has anyone been able to get a USB dac connected through a Audioquest dragon tail..... I tried but it does not connect to the meridian explorer 2. I have had no issues connecting the Meridian to my Sony xperia compact using a cheap anker cable. Any help appreciated, I'm going through Audio...
