Good catch! Just poked around on it and was able to remove what actually was a cap on the 8 prongs. I guess it's just a dual board all in one stack that is used for the SE output of this DAC.

I got my Sparkos SS2590 chips yesterday, both dual mode on an adapter, for my upcoming Jnog 2 DAC. Will be using it only for the RCA SE outputs. This is what I got. Does this look correct or do I need another chip or adapter?

The 4499 version with 2590 does have proper bass and good definition to it, right?

Wow, I was surprised to read this. I just ordered the DAC as you guys recommended today, 4499 chip with Amanero module and will be running Toslink optical into it. Now I'm realizing from here some thought it was too lean / thin, and interestingly a few others said the 4499 chip sounds too soft...

Thanks guys. I ordered the "PRO to DUAL DIP8 Adapter - Adapter + Two SS2590 Fully assembled into adapter". Hopefully this is the correct one? It seems like it may be dual configuration instead of two singles. Also I'm considering getting the DAC without any op-amps. Not sure if that's...

Also - probably a dumb question, but if I'm soon upgrading to the recommended S2590 opamps, I can just select the default TI OPA1656 x 2pcs for both SE/XLR on the Jnog2 DAC, right?

Thank you so much. I'm about to order a set with adapters from the Sparkos website directly. They have an option to combine both opamps with the adapters for just a couple bucks more. Installation process - Where can I find a manual or diagram about that process? Also I see speak here of...

    Musician Draco R2R DAC

Thanks for your insights guys. I've recently discovered an alternative DAC called Jnog 2 from Geshelli. It's not R2R, but a similar price, has great reviews from the few who tried it, and has interesting possibilities with op-amp rolling and other customizations perhaps...

Thank you. Did you mean AK4493 DAC chip? That was the only option I found on their website. And has anyone an opinion on any difference in sound between wood or metal chassis?

Hey guys - casual observer of the thread here, thinking about DAC upgrades. I've recently came from a Chord Qutest and downgraded to the Mojo 2 for extra cash although I liked it. Which version would you recommend the most to make it perform closer to what I'm familiar with? And what kinds of...

    Musician Draco R2R DAC

Just checked my records, I got the Audio GD R-1 DAC (full clocks upgrade) 4 years ago and you know how audio memory goes so can't comment further than before, but I do recall the general sound sig. as I had mentioned. I have considered that mine could have been a rare fluke to this as an...

If I'm not using USB input, is there any benefit of still getting a Unison board on the Bifrost 2? I've been interested in that DAC for a while. Anyone else second the Soekris as well? I may still like the Draco and can tweak the isolation as I now have several isolation hacks at my disposal...

PS - I would also be using the DAC with my Audio GD DI20 DDC so I would have the choice to use it with either I2S, AES/EBU, RCA coax, or even Toslink optical with an iFi adapter. And though their DDC is sublime, I won't consider Ausio GD DACs anymore, as I was utterly dismayed with their DAC-R1...

Hi there, just noticed your thread. Any updates on your currently preferred DAC? I'm leaning towards an R2R or proprietary DA chip, as I'm also a fan of Chord Electronics DACs, but hopefully something more affordable.

    Poll:Aftermarket Qutest psu.

Somewhat hard to visualize your highly proprietary yet no doubt resolving system. Any chance you could do a photoshoot to share? Thanks
