My question was about the Mojo as well. I simply wanted to know if it needs the 5v handshake or not.

from what i know, some dac`s require 5v to make the usb handshake and some do not, so you can just run with just a data cable. Uptone USPCB allows you to disable the 5v vbus if your dac does not need it.

i have a question regarding the usb connection between the dac and the pc. does it work if you use a data only cable, no 5v connection on the cable that`s connecting the dac to the pc?

i asked someone that has the device and also a dual headed usb cable in his setup, to test by plugging in just the data wire. it does not work with a data only cable, even though it has it`s own power supply, it needs the 5v power from the pc.

from what i know, some devices even though they have an external power supply, they require the 5v from the cable to do the handshake with the pc. that`s why i want to know before i buy the device. my question is regarding the input, from the pc to the iusb3.0 and not from the iusb3.0 to the dac.

i need some clarification on something, does the iUSB3.0 work if you use a "data" only cable to connect it to the PC, or does it need both data+power ?

well not really. a proper answer would have been "if there is no 5v power coming through the usb cable from the source, it will not be in an operational state".

it`s not about if the cable is high-end or not, what i`m interested in is, if it can work without receiving that power that comes from the source through the usb cable.

i`d like to know if the device itself requires usb power to work, or it will still work if you use a custom usb cable that is data only, no 5v power ? im referring to the connection from the pc to the igalvanic, does the device require the 5v power that comes thorough the cable ?
