FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
In regards to plugins/components in foobar: sure, I even used older version since someone mentioned similar problems with more current ones. I have to use the dsd processor or set the output to PCM to convert DSF/DFF on the fly, otherwise the player doesn't seem to recognize the audio-stream...- creal

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
Was someone able to play DSD through the X7ii used as an external DAC? I tried different sources/applications (foobar2000, JRiver, mpd) and the only thing I got with DOP was a lot of noise and the music extremely quiet in the background...- creal

Problems with E17k and a Galaxy S3 (Android 5.1.1)
I'am having a problem with my recently acquired Fiio E17K beeing fed by my trusty old S3 running Lolipop: if the audio stream is closed, may it be through a pause or a track change, the DAC basically quits working. What's really strange is that toggling through the inputs pauses the playback (as...- creal

In search for a flexible solution... (home, work and on the fly)
Hello everyone, as the title suggests I'am in search for a portable headphone amp which fits my everyday life. I know there is no jack of all trades device out there but maybe some of you could guide me into the right direction for a specific dac/amp. Sooo, how does my daily usage look...- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Quote: Cutting off protective earth would be indeed a pretty stupid idea, especially if your favorite electronic device comes with a metal housing . Btw: both N and PE seems to be conntected properly. Therefore something amp-internal has to be wrong.- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Quote: I already un- and rescrewed the screw a few times, just to check if a lose toroid could be the source of noise. And the screw is definitely connected to ground, I checked it with a multimeter. Quote: Tried several different wall plugs within our house, unfortunately...- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Quote: I tried some cheap dynamic iems and the background noise is there too. My question right now: could the reason for the hum/hiss solely be the potentiometer itself? Quote: I read everything considering ground problems in this thread. It's just I can't hear any noise...- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Isn't the alps in the M-Stage grounded at all? As I mentioned before I get some good noise by touching the pot' right about 3/4+, but if I place my finger at the metallic part of the alps housing, the sound out of the IEMs goes off like a lawnmower. Again with my Beyers or AKGs I can't hear...- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Quote: This might be the case, at least the background noise isn't introduced by the source (no RCA or USB connected at the time of testing). Quote: The DAC module is nothing special, but for the additional price asked it isn't a bad deal by any means. SQ wise it shouldn't...- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Quote: My TF10 are equipped with the UE Custom-Cable and still hum quite noticeably at the lowest gain setting. I already tried a different power cord, a different plug (wall plug) and tightened up the screw at the bottom of the amp. By the way, I noticed something interesting: if...- creal

Neither my DT880 nor my K530 hum at all, regardless of gain and volume. Seems the TF10 have pretty sensitive drivers...- creal

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.
Has anyone meassured the weight of their M-Stage? It somewhat confusing to read all these different informations: most retailers says 1,5kg, some of them indicates a weight of 2kg (including packaging?) and the manual says 1,4kg. Well I threw everything on a scale: the M-Stage USB (current...- creal

Differences between Denons (D2000, D5000, D7000)
Quote: 400$ seems like a bargain! Here in germany the D5000 sells for around 599€ (Amazon) up to 799€ (~ 785$ - 1048$) , which is kind of ridiculous in comparison. For roughly 300€ I would be tempted to try these cups, even with my small budget as a student =D.- creal

NFB-5 or M-Stage for dt-880@600
Thanks for everyones advice. Today I got the M-Stage and as of right now, I'am pretty happy with my purchase. The DAC does a great job, definitely a step up from my Realteak onboard sound. The bass goes deeper, has more impact and texture. Overall the sound signature of the 880 has gotten...- creal

NFB-5 or M-Stage for dt-880@600
Quote: This and the lack of analogue inputs is kind of a dealbreaker for me. Getting an amp like the c-2, the m-stage or even an used Violectric (preferably with usb input) and a better dac later one might be the right way to go.- creal
