Thanks for the reply guys. I guess I'm going to return them. I doubt I'll change my mind and while they are very decent I just don't think they are of my personal taste.

I just bought some HD600's and although I love their design and find them comfortable , mostly , I can't get over the non-relaxed sound signature of them. The HD650 really does ease back on the mids to a degree that , at least in my mind , makes them "realistic" for whatever that's worth...

RAM sounds completely brilliant. Daft Punk did a CNN interview (audio only) stating that they feel the Electronic music scene has gone "stale" (which is sure the hell has) and that they wanted to release something different and really "evolve" their music out of their strictly electronic sound...

Also the new Daft Punk Album (streaming for free on Itunes) really pushes the strengths of Ortho cans like these. If you want a good album to push them , RAM is it.

Schiit Asgard 2 without question in that price range. If you want to save some cash the Magni drives the HD800's wonderfully and I just listened to that combo today and found it very pleasing.

K550 for what you wanna listen to. Grado's don't really shine for that type of music. That's my opinion at least. I love Grado's for metal.

I find that my Audioengine D1 does quite an excellent job amping the Q701's. My Schiit Valhalla does sound better but not by much. Honestly I can't believe the Audioengine D1's aren't more popular around here.
