Home cooked headphones - Come one come all! Anyone welcome

Here's my newest pair. Rings are carbon fiber with gold leaf, aim was to be kind of like the MEST Mk2 but I went overboard with the gold and it's been grating on me. Reprinting some molds now to redo them. Other than that they're using the Audeze CF Headband and ZMF Auteur Lambskin pads, I'm...

    My latest open-backed creation

Mostly finished my newest pair last night, waiting on finishing tuning before I glue the grills on. Inspired by my favourite IEM (the MEST Mk2) they are cast (forged) carbon fibre with gold leaf accents and steel grills. HS50 Beryllium driver, Audeze CF headband, ZMF Auteur Lambskin pads...

Memorial Day IEMs Specials Start 5/24! Canpur And Noble's New Releases Debut Discounts!!!

I'd call them an overall balanced signature. They have nice sparkle and nice bass but I wouldn't call them bright or bass-heavy. Mids and lower-treble are near perfect. I haven't heard the Singularity but based on descriptions I'd say if you're looking for bass it's the way to go.

Memorial Day IEMs Specials Start 5/24! Canpur And Noble's New Releases Debut Discounts!!!

I’ve had a very hard time wanting anything more than them. I’ve listened to a bunch of $$$ through loaner tours and only the MM Mentor and Penon Impact jumped out as being an upgrade and they were not a multi-thousand dollar upgrade for sure. At that $1000 - $2000 range, the MEST Mk2 and Mk3...

    Fixing drivers with dented diaphragm

I usually put a bit of tape on the end of my finger and lightly dab at the dent and pull. Works well for me.

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

If the Low-Latency DAC competes with traditional stand-alone DACs, that will be a game changer. Always been my issue with DAPs, laggy and janky when plugged in as a DAC.

Home cooked headphones - Come one come all! Anyone welcome

That's kind of the base I'm working with too but I've make some changes with a custom rear cover and front baffle/pad mount. I am seriously impressed with the SQ. I've owned and listened to the standards of mid-fi to mid/high (HD650, HE560, LCD2.1 and 2.2, HD800S, Focal Clear) and these trade...

Home cooked headphones - Come one come all! Anyone welcome

Here's what I'm working on the last few weeks: A closed pair using Fostex T50RP drivers. Been tricky to tune but getting it to a pretty decent place. And an open pair with the Peerless Tympany 50mm Driver. These sound surprising good after initial build. Finishing up a magnetic pad...

    Planar Headphones Copyright ?

No one is going to have a patent on either a generic planar driver or a traditional round headphone design. Avoid styling the grills with the Audeze A shape and you'll be fine. There are plenty of companies selling "Audeze style" planars. Sash, Verum, Monoprice, Modhouse, etc. As long as you...

    Some "DIY" Open Backs

Any impression of the drivers you can give? I've got the Peerless 50mm right now going into a project but I'm thinking of grabbing some Aliexpress units over the 11.11 sale.

Unique Melody Bone Conduction Family (MEST&MEXT and their siblings) Announcement and Impression Thread.

Well, lucky for you I had both of those back to back. To me, either is as good as the other one. They both have a magical quality. I'm not going to use general audio terms to describe them. I'm just going to say when Norah Jones sings the line "Funny how my favourite shirt smells more like you...

Unique Melody Bone Conduction Family (MEST&MEXT and their siblings) Announcement and Impression Thread.

I had the MM's on tour a month or so ago. They were great. The big win over the Mk2 was in the vocals, they were magical..... But after going back to the MEST and "cleansing my palette" for a month I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

    Best gaming controller

The Xbox Elite V2 is (IMO) the best feeling/handling controller available but my god is a giant piece of s***. I've replaced both sticks and a shoulder button. I had hoped they learned their lesson after the dumpster fire that was the Elite V1 but apparently not. I really like the weight and...

Watercooler Tour Thread - (New eligible participants welcome PM me for details.) - See second post for active tours.

This Penon Impact is something. Kind of snuck up one me, wasn't on my radar at all and until @Rockwell75 told me how much he liked it I didn't even realize that Penon had a halo tier IEM. It's right there with the Diva and the MM for me.
