    Record Store Day 2014

So, with RSD 4 days away, I've updated my short list to: -Joy Division [An Ideal For Living EP] -Spoon [Love Ways EP] -Biggie [Life After Death]   .... there's also a couple others I might pick up once in store, but I'm not going to splurge this year.   Anyone else? There doesn't seem...

How would you organize various artists?

I can't stand using a 'various artists' folder either.   If the compilation is presented by someone, I'll use their name as an artist. For example, I have a bunch of blues compilations presented by Martin Scorsese. I list his name on the artist folder; and within, I categorize each compilation...

    Record Store Day 2014

"A 7" single of adult film star Ron Jeremy performing and discussing classical music at a piano.  This is a serious record laced with Ron's hilarious dialogue and off the cuff blue comments throughout his performances of Bach, Beethoven and more.  Colored vinyl.  Artwork and packaging by...

    Record Store Day 2014

The list of releases for RSD 2014 has been launched:  http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases   Which one's catch your eye; any must-haves; will you be lining up the day of; is this years list a dud.....?     Personally, I'm quite disappointing with these offerings. Last year there...

    Denon AH-D7000

I'm wondering about the sound, though. Do the D7000's sound the same through the Lawton Angle's and the Alpha's??

    Denon AH-D7000

Has anyone tried the D7000's with the Alpha Pads, Lawton Angle Pads, and J$ Pads that could comment on their sonic differences compared to stock pads?   (I'm using the Lawton Angle Pads for their increased comfort and larger soundstage; albeit with some tradeoffs as well. I like swapping pads...

    Your headphone pet peeves

Apparently, Audeze is making a closed back headphone: http://www.head-fi.org/t/631590/audeze-closed-back-prototypes-yeah-this-is-one-of-the-headphones-at-the-top-of-my-wish-list   Also, from what I've read, LFF's Paradox is a better closed headphone than the Alpha Dog.

    AKG Q701 vs Beyerdynamic DT880

Throw the HD600 into the mix, and you have a winner. This is my favourite price/performance headphone.

    AKG Q701 vs Beyerdynamic DT880

I'm a bigger fan of the Q701's.   Comfort is subjective; and to me, the DT 880's were very uncomfortable. They have very shallow earcups (much more shallow than the DT 770's or 990's), and my ear touched the inside of the cup which irritated it. The Q701's were more comfortable to me, but the...

    Your headphone pet peeves

Only two things really annoy me:   1) When my headphone cable gets a weird twist or kink in it... this drives me bonkers.   2) When I perceive people using headphones as fashion accessories/statements... I know I shouldn't care because people can do whatever the eff they want, but it still...

    Denon AH-D7000

For best results, NO. Using the headphone jack to connect to your Burson is not a great idea; but it will do if you need to use that setup for a short time until you get your DAC. Listen for yourself and see if it sounds alright for the short term.

great forward sounding, energetic headphones for iPhone?

You didn't specify whether you were looking for an open or closed pair; but if you don't mind your second pair being open, definitely go for Grado's (the model would depend on your budget). I really like the SR225i's for around $200, but the SR80i's are good for $100.   These are forward &...

I ripped the cable out of my portapro by accident... anywhere to get a recable for cheap?

I like the Koss KSC75's much more than the PortaPros. They have less bass, but sound much better to my ears.   You could buy a pair of these for about $15 (on Amazon) and attach them to the PortaPro headband (they snap right in). Cheap and simple fix (especially considering that you have to...
