iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane
Many thanks! This is what I have been using so maybe it’s a matter of using a new power supply or plugging NUC direct to router. Ahh this hobby! Lol. Thanks again.- audiogeekery

iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane
My chain is the NUC playing Roon > Zen Stream > BF2 > preamp with volume and amp. I would assume that would mean leaving the setting to “Device volume”? Or “none” lol. Thanks again for the help but let me know if this makes sense :)- audiogeekery

iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane
Thanks so much for the speedy response! To clarify: it’s not a dedicated ROCK but it is a much newer piece of hardware. For the optimal settings with Roon to the Bifrost: would Device volume be best?- audiogeekery

iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane
Hello all! I am an Ifi Zen stream user into a Bifrost 2/64 via spdif. Using Roon and Qobuz, along with a local library. Just wanted to see if I am alone here but I’ve been using an ancient 2011 desktop PC to stream and it sounds glorious. Grain-free and straight to the Zen. Switched to an...- audiogeekery

Wow! Congratulations, @theveterans ! You really made that leap to the next level Yggy! Now have you sold the Bf2? Really appreciate the comparisons with the MIB. Is NOS mode still comparable?- audiogeekery

Still entranced and running the SPDIF from Eitr into BF2/64 In NOS mode. Just a richness and “right on” tonality there that is hypnotizing and time passes so quickly. Im having a hard time finding drawbacks here, compared to USB and MCB. Jason and Mike really treated us well, with this upgrade.- audiogeekery

Thanks for this! You really do also have to trust your ears. Optical has been incredible. Even further bucking the trend: NOS mode has been incredible and my preferred listening mode.- audiogeekery

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
Because for me, in my system, I have a noisy PC as the source and Eitr has provided a dramatically noticeable improvement. This is from testing with 2 sep computers. 1: an older desktop model and 2: a barebones NUC. Unfortunately or fortunately, the Eitr has been incredible. Again, just looking...- audiogeekery

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
Is anyone able to provide a more subjective comparison with Eitr and Zen Stream using Bifrost 2? I’m currently happy with my Eitr into BF2/64 and running NOS mode but wanted to see if anyone here has experience with BF2/64? thanks in advance :)- audiogeekery

Should also add that it makes no difference (outside of the mastering) to me p, whether it’s 44.1 or 192. All sound amazing (depending on the production and mastering… lol)- audiogeekery

These are excellent points On the MCB vs NOS. We have a large sample set of Headphone listeners, along with speaker folks (myself). To drill drown further, we have Solid State and Tube and Hybrid (Tube and SS). in my old system, I was running a tube pre into a beast of a solid state power...- audiogeekery

Thank you so much for the timely and detailed reply! Legit, it’s nice to have this thread and forum to get some perspective outside of the traditional approach (ie: MCB and USB implementation) to have a free discussion on other options and flavours! Love the tube advice on colouring the sound...- audiogeekery
