The Stax Thread III
Yeah, I thought so. I filed a mod report asking to move it, not sure if I should just repost but I can’t delete the original.- astromaddie

On the other hand, I posted a topic there about this four days ago and never got a single reply so… 🥲- astromaddie

I can try there, but head-fi is certainly more active so I wanted to try here first.- astromaddie

in lieu of that, I’d also appreciate if someone could help walk me the process to get this finished myself. I can work a soldering iron but don’t have nearly the engineering know-how to feel confident on my own based purely on all the high-level discussion I’ve seen online.- astromaddie

The Stax Thread III
I have a shot-in-the-dark question. I have a half-finished CCS circuit for my T1S. I’m not really sure how to successfully calibrate the variable resistor, and I don’t trust myself to actually install it into my T1S. Is there anyone in Japan that would be willing to help me? I’ll accept all...- astromaddie

Stax: SR 002 + Srm 002 and Srm 003 mk2 + Srm 003 impression and appreciation thread
I think I got them from the same member, mine are probably 3-4 years old.- astromaddie

Stax: SR 002 + Srm 002 and Srm 003 mk2 + Srm 003 impression and appreciation thread
Sad, but unsurprising. For a niche market, the existence of the 002 and 003 simultaneously had to be dividing up an already lean product... I'm glad I was about to get a 5-pin adapter for my 002 to use with my D10 as it adds some nice versatility, but I would hardly call the D10 portable.- astromaddie

Wait, tell me more, or show me please :) What black magic are you talking of! How much cotton should I add? Does the dampening make that much more difference?- astromaddie

I’m a bit of a noob with the technicals of Stax, but I’m a little confused why you said this. I only have two amps, the T1S and D10, but when I upgraded from the L700 to the 007A, I found that the D10 sounded as good as the T1S for the 007 (which sounded better than the L700). I only need to use...- astromaddie

STAX SR-1 (Vintage) ' 1st Electrostatic Earspeaker'
Thanks, yeah it looks exactly like the ones you’re showing, I couldn’t tell if the cups were originally foam or plastic or how easily they could be replaced. I’ve replaced my SR-3 pads with 105mm pads, so maybe 100mm pads would fit these well.- astromaddie

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
I remember really liking the LCD-X when I demoed them years ago, but that was before I had the Quads. Would love to hear your comparisons.- astromaddie

STAX SR-1 (Vintage) ' 1st Electrostatic Earspeaker'
I'm eyeing a pair of SR-1's but the earpads look super beaten up. What material are the pads made out of? Could they be replaced? I have a pair of SR-3's but the SR-1's look very different.- astromaddie

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
After a couple years of owning the Quads, I decided to order a Topping E30/L30 stack. I mostly use the Quads with my work MacBook Pro and really expected a boost in audio quality from the amp alone. I can’t say I hear any difference. This wasn’t a blind test, either, but I did my best to volume...- astromaddie

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
These days I’ve been re-evaluating my gear and questioning if I really need to keep my beloved Stax 007A. It sounds amazing with that ethereal Stax sound, but the Quad really just sounds so fun, without needing a bulky amp or inconvenient cabling, the diminishing returns are real. I find myself...- astromaddie

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
Similar but not the same level of sound quality. As far as I can tell, it's the OEM ERA-1 drivers without the Quad tuning, because they have similar treble (though a little lacking body in the highs), and notably worse bass (less of it, muddier). I spent some time with both side by side demoing...- astromaddie
