Yea the touch screen on the D2 is a resistive touch screen - it relies on contact between two membranes to indicate a touch. Adding an impedance adapter helps add some more punch and tightness to the bass - and the D2 doesn't have a problem driving headphones with it. Thanks. I have the extension cord for my D1000's (that I never use) so I think I will try putting a 50ohm resistor on each signal line to test out the sound. See if it will be worth further efforts.

It starts up a bit slower - 6-7 seconds versus 2-3 seconds. Actual operation is unimpeded though.

I got a 4 gb D2 for about $130, plus a 16 gb SD card for $60. 20 gb of flash storage for under $200. It is certainly not fragile - very solid construction. My only concern with gym use would be sweat leaking under the touch screen - but sweat would be a concern for most DAP's.

The only one I can think of would be the Sansa e200. It has SD capability, replaceable battery, and can be Rockboxed, which should allow you to play OGG and FLAC.

The buds that come stock with practically any DAP will be trash. New phones is a must. As far as settings, bbe will give you a bit more warmth and the mach3bass setting should give some good depth to the bass levels. But before messing with the settings you should try it out with the new phones...

I can't imagine they would - they have been very successful with their target market. Plus there were some rumors at CES about the D3 being released in 6 months or so. Of course, it may not make it to the US for over a year...
