And then there’s the feet. Do you think the power supply will be available separately? Will it be possible to buy the Scaler bit and use a lesser power supply, or even batteries, until you can afford the fancy power-supply? After all, the M Scaler used a cheap PSU which was supposed to be...- AndrewOld

I bought an MScaler as soon as it was launched, but while I can likely afford the new one it will be a 100% not buy for me. This time I will wait before I buy. If there is any hint of cable woo-woo, ferrites, RF voodoo or any other problems that should’ve been sorted before launch then my money...- AndrewOld

It’s not remotely “hate”, that’s an absurd exaggeration. It’s perfectly reasonable criticism, that evidently other people share, some with a better sense of humour than me. I hope Chord don’t steal the remote control design that @seaice posted! If potential users don’t make their feelings and...- AndrewOld

The New Chord Quartet MScaler Discussion Thread
In the third decade of the twenty first century when you buy an extremely expensive product which claims to be state of the art it isn’t too much to expect a remote control which controls all the aspects of a product, including direct selection of a source, and expecting that remote to be in a...- AndrewOld

Yes, the eq will be a real test. Many people will want different eq presets for the different headphones and speakers they might own, as well as wanting manufacturer endorsed settings such as Audeze offer. And wouldn’t it be nice if crosstalk was settable on the M Scaler and could be associated...- AndrewOld

You might want to switch inputs (otherwise why has it got any?). You might want to set it up after you powered it off before going away. Some inquisitive/careless person might have pressed the balls when trying to get some music out. I did actually get a new DAVE remote. Although it doesn’t...- AndrewOld

Take something simple like changing an input or the volume. How do you do that? It isn't at all obvious. Why aren't the controls on the DAVE labelled, using the same symbols that are just about universal for most audio/video devices? What do the coloured blobs mean on the MScaler ? Why are...- AndrewOld

It maybe that people who listen on headphones a lot find earlier stereo recordings good because they were more biased to mono. If you check out pages 126-127 of that book you will see that the early Decca tree microphone arrangement evolved from a single mono microphone with a couple of outriggers.- AndrewOld

Thank you! It used to be the case that to buy an MScaler you had to buy it with a Blu2 - for most people a completely redundant CD mechanism - in an over engineered and unnecessarily expensive box. After many people, including me, asked for a stand-alone MScaler one was released at much less...- AndrewOld

Still looks like a missed opportunity to me. What’s the point of the fancy display, the controls, most of the inputs, and some of the upscaling on the DAVE once you have an MScaler or this new scaler? Why not put the DAC bit of DAVE in a simpler and cheaper box, junk the unecessary inputs and...- AndrewOld

Thousands! If you like the Decca approach to recording, which has been well documented, (see this book) then try any of their orchestral recordings of the last twenty or so (ie digital) years. But there are many great recordings with great dynamics on many labels. Stephen Hough’s Rachmaninov 2...- AndrewOld
