I have had these in the closet since 2009. The material both on the headband and somewhat on the earcups is starting to disintegrate. It doesn't affect structural stability, it's just annoying and you'd probably want to just scrape off all of it before using them. Also, I stepped on these over a decade ago and there is a little plastic piece that snapped which holds one earcup when it bends inwards. To remedy this, I just put a piece of plastic tape on it and never had a problem as long as I didn't bend it inwards, the piece is still in there but falls out if you bend it inwards. It's not a hassle, it just doesn't stay in if you bend it. You could try super gluing the plastic piece as it's still functioning. It doesn't affect the resizing feature, it only prevents the one cup from bending inwards. They still sound great! You can replace the earpads for $5-$10 or buy better than stock ones for a little more.

That's why it's priced so low, one earcup doesn't bend inward and the outer material is scraping off. These are $130 on Amazon, you're not going to get better sound quality for the $$
