TLDR 1
Original owner from 2013. Audeze replaced both drivers January of 2019. Overall, great condition and religiously waxed every 6 months. Comes with original hard case, original cables, updated cables, and ALO Audio cable system.
TLDR2
Don't ship USPS.
Fazor Saga
The Fazor Saga begins in February of 2013 when I purchased these cans from Moon Audio.
I had them in my possession less than three weeks when the left driver failed and was producing no sound.
Audeze support was stellar. I overnighted the LCD-3 to California where they replaced both drivers and overnighted them back within a week's time.
Sadly, one month later, the right channel failed. Overnight to California yet again. This time Audeze turnaround was even faster. They replaced both drivers again and I was back to enjoying them within 4 days.
I was rattled after so much turmoil in that first year, but things settled down and were quiet until 2015. Despite my religious waxing of the zebrano wood, I noticed a small crack had appeared in the back where it attaches to the headband bracket.
Audeze support was more than happy to issue an RMA and replace the wood for me. Nine days from when I reported the crack I was holding repaired cans.
At the end of 2018 I made the decision to move from full-size headphones to custom IEMs and listed the LCD-3 for sale as a "pre-Fazor" model here on Head-Fi.
I shipped them off to California for what I thought would be the final time, only to have the very nice Head-Fier who purchased them report that the LCD-3 had Fazor elements.
At this point I reached out to Audeze and they confirmed when they fixed the cracked Zebrawood they actually replaced the drivers with Fazor versions.
Disappointed on both ends, the LCD-3 was shipped back to me, but was damaged in transit with the right driver no longer working.
After a lengthy, two month insurance claim process along with multiple appeals, the USPS awarded me a whopping $68 which to put towards repairs.
I made one final appeal to Audeze to replace the drivers since I believed the problems ultimately to be a result of the 2015 wood repair. They agreed, and in January of 2019 I had working LCD-3 again.
Since that time the LCD-3 have seen little use, other than a good waxing every 6 months. I'm sure they are looking forward to a new home.
