Even with IEMs that only have 9 ohms it seems to work very well. ToneDeafMonk uses the Elysian Pilgrim and he says it's a good combination. I'm in Malaysia the month after next and will buy the Pilger Noir, let's see how it works with the M5U

Maybe with my Andromeda 2020, I'd better use another DAP or dongle I have. No problems with that.
Then I have U4S (11ohm) - Oracle OG (11ohm) - MMKII (12ohm) - Supernova (15ohm) as the IEMs with the lowest impedance.
The others already have a slightly higher impedance.
I think the M5U will look good on just about everyone.

The Pilgrim at 9ohms I absolutely adore on the M5U and to chine in on battery post review I can confirm I do indeed get 9 hours roughly on bal out that hits the sweet spit for me getting 3 3hr session out of it before recharge required I am happy with that.

Hello all, I have the shanling m3 ultra which was fine for 80% of my headphones but struggled with my nicer closed back headphone, the DCA Aeon nior 2 ballanced.. and a fee others.. but focusing on the DCA because the closed back desine is good to on the go, but it requires power.

I mainly use the m3 for tidal on the go with mainly the of use of downloaded music on the Tidal App. Spend alot of time away from wifi and cell coverage.

I got my m5 ultra today, I updated the firmware, tidal is now there.. I linked my acc and that worked great.

The two issues I have.

With tidal linked it is absent all options to download on tidal app.. is this not an option for the m5 ultra.. is it comming?

The other is the sound cuts out at about 85% and the amp trips, need to do a reset to get it to work again.. I'm pretty sure this is a protect feature, as that 85 on hi gain is on really difficult headphones. the dca aeons go to loud levels with low distortion.. about the max of my listen level..then it peak and reaches its limit and trips. it pushed every thing else just fine..

but the biggest issue is the tidal download issue

Only had it an hour but may have to send it back as the only real feature I got it for is not there.

Tidal playback is Online only.

Such behaviour with planars, we saw it just few times. It was when the unit was pretty much maxed out and headphones running at such volumes, we would be afraid of long term damage of the headphones. I personally tested DCA E3 on M5 Ultra and it was fine running around 60 volume, can't imagine how loud would it be at 85.

@Shanling which are the maximum and recocommended working temperatures? Its only 15° degrees here and it gets a little bit hot, but in summer if we reach near 40° would it be a problem?

We are based in Shenzhen and we can hit 35-40 degress and 90% humidity, never saw this as issue with our players.

M5 Ultra is also one of our less warm running devices, so I wouldn't worry about this at all.

That bug was already set to be fixed in a future update as far as I understood , as it is now I didn't find or read about a work around.

Our software team is checking on it, so far they were unable to replicate it.
