Replacement earpads for Sennheiser HD700
Mar 27, 2019 at 1:26 AM Post #16 of 25
Sorry for the old post, but wondering if someone can help me with this. The plastic on the outside of my HD700s broke recently, and I cannot find anywhere to get this part replaced. I still listen to them all the time, and have no idea how they broke. I take really good care of them, and they’re always in a padded case when not using them

Just buy these cheap pads and get the plastic bit

I could be wrong, but I think he means a plastic part of the cup (or maybe headband), he wrote "plastic on the outside of my HD700s broke recently". But if its the plastic ring attached to the pads that hooks to the mounting ring then yes, definitely.

i would email Senn directly, they might have old sock for such cases.

Then good news is, this damage probably does not affect sound or functionality at all, the broken part is a decorative outer shell.
It is marked 050 in this pic, unfortunately I do not have the corresponding parts list with Sennheiser part numbers:

It is held in place by a few small snaps, so I would try to pull it off (carefully). There's this post on disassembly in the long HD700 thread:

This guy also shows how to do it:

And this post shows parts after disassembly:

Take the outer shell off and glue it together with superglue, or maybe something like Bondic.

You can also try to contact your local Sennheiser distributor and they should be able to check the exact part number and its availability, and if its possible, order it for you. But it could be prohibitively expensive.

Or you can keep an eye out for damaged HD700 and buy it for parts.

I have three pairs of HD700 and have taken them apart for headband replacement and installing easier things like the Modhouse foam kits. The best way for that kind of repair is use Loctite Gel on the head of a pin to apply a couple of dots of it. Then it has to be clamped firm for 1 hour to setup, and it's got a 24 hour full cure time. The Gel is much easier to control and just use the minimum amount needed. Too much and it'll vibrate loose eventually, just a few dots of it are strong enough.
