Yeah, it's disappointing. But I guess people just want desktop amps or dongles. The "in-between" categories are less lucrative these days.

My problem with dongles is the more powerful ones suck out the battery from any phone.

If you really need more power, but there is a problem with your smartphone's battery life, I think the solution is to buy a DAP (Digital Audio Player). Personally, I find it more interesting than portable DAC/amp that are the size of a DAP and still have to connect them to a cell phone.

I think DAPs are interesting too, but if you primarily stream music, then a phone really is the best option for portable listening.

In either case, there is supposed to be a battery pack released for the KA17 dongle, so I’d keep my eye on that as well.
