Denafrips 'Pontus' R2R ladder DAC - close up view

Did you suddenly have this problem with this setup and was working fine previously? Or did something changed in your setup recently?
No it’s my first time connecting and using in this setup. I tried 2 different cable brands but the issue persists. One side is louder than the other. The weaker side appears compressed and doesn’t display the whole sound profile compared to the “good side”.

Then this makes no sense....

If one channel is faulty, and you swap cables only for the other side to have the same issues, says the cable is at fault.

Please read my post again, and I never mentioned a DDC. I said Pontus DAC, and Denafrips headphone amp. There are no XLR cables coming from my DDC.

Oh, and don't buy into the hype that certain XLR cables have issues while others don't. That's just sales pitch. Yeah, cables make a difference in sound quality, but an electrical connection is an electrical connection no matter the cable brand.

And for the record - I don't use Gothem's (Alvin's recommendation), and I have zero issues. I use Worlds Best, and Better Cables. Zero issues.

With that, have you checked the Burson Soloist isn't causing the issue?

Let us know.
Yes I too thought the cable is faulty and ordered a 2nd pair from SVS, but it still sounds the same.

So is the dac newly introduced into your setup or the amp?

Small Update :
After a brief switching over of the XLR cables between the Left and Right XLR Outputs from the Pontus 2, I’ve come to realize the issue lies with the Right XLR port which produces a lower sound level compared to the Left Output. Seems I may need an inspection or possible replacement. I have already contacted Denafrips for the same. Anyone else faced similar issues here ?

Would be interested to hear your thoughts of it after you've had more time with it compared with the Holo DAC from your past setup.

Hi, just curious what those silver discs were?
They are emi/rfi reduction discs from Herbie's Audi Lab.
At least, I believe that's how they are labeled as. Lol.
