If you ever thought Audeze was shifting its focus away from hardcore audiophile products, think again. As if to make the strongest of statements otherwise, Audeze is launching a flagship-class electrostatic headphone today. Audeze Founder and CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram visited us at Head-Fi HQ to discuss the Audeze CRBN, its fascinating backstory, and the engineering behind it, and its carbon nanotube diaphragms.
Of course, we also give it a listen and discuss its sound, as well as take a look at measurements of the Audeze CRBN (including measurement comparisons) made using the following:
- Brüel & Kjær High-frequency Head and Torso Simulator (HATS) Type 5128
- Audio Precision APx555 Audio Analyzer
- Audio Precision APx1701 Transducer Test Interface
- STAX SRM-353X Electrostatic Driver Unit (Amplifier)
- Benchmark HPA4 Headphone Amplifier
- Herzan custom-designed acoustic & vibration isolation enclosure
