New Head-Fier
Pros: + The best fitting IEM of all time in my ears
+ Includes cables with 3 jack options (although the cables are ugly like wilted noodles)
+ Best Shell finishing and built quality used.
+ "Correct" punchy bass.
+ "Correct" sub-bass rumble.
+ Crystal Clear sounding from Low to High freq.
+ Shining-Shimmering-Splendid treble.
+ Fun engaging power from Low to high freq.
+ Best detail and clarity IEM on Single DD.
Cons: - Slightly recessed mid presentation
- The vocals, which are too clear, feel quite sharp and less natural for some people accustomed to hearing recorded voices.
- The overly bright treble can make ears sore and tired.

"The IEM Endgame for me" is a statement I used to believe in until I reached the point where even after defeating the Final Boss, another Final Boss emerges when our game...

New Head-Fier
Pros: Sound amazing for bassy laidback listen.
Great fit and very small shells.
None fatiguing.
Mid-volume heaven.
Sub-bass GOD.
Cons: Overpriced specially with the red cable.
Ok technicalities.
Needs a lot of power for top performance.
Mostly good with Hip-hip, reggae, EDM.
Is a specialist hard to be used as an all rounder.
Needed more mid-bass slam.
Needed better cable.
The presentation is quite nice you get what Fatfreq call a “Fat red box” with the red silver cable or black.

Thank you for the review.

As a Xenns Up owner I'm not that intrigued haha. I also think that the sub bass is already pretty good. The only set I owned that beat it was the Monarch Mk3.

Yea I have heard good things about the Monarch MK3, also I’m interested in symphoniumaudio’s titan as someone told me it has more bass than the UP and the same level of technicalities. Definitely gonna demo the MK3 & titan this coming CanJam London.

Pros: Low price
Good fit security and comfort
Decent isolation
Decent quality bass
Getting a pair of TRN T-Ear tips
Cons: Shouty and harsh sounding out of the box
Needs an easy mod to sound decent
Nothing else at this price
TRN is mostly known for their budget offerings and CS4 is one of them. Until these were offered to be sent to me, I wasn’t even aware that they existed. So here I am letting you know that these...

Enjoy your writeup, thanks for sharing.

Haven't though of dust caps and 90-degree RCA adapters, nice ideas (my custom power cables are 90-degree terminated which works great here).

I have the same tube combo as I shared in the product thread, with the exception of gain tube where I use RCA 6BQ7A Black Plates "O" getter (1957). It workds great with the output tubes and rectifier you have. I may need to try again the JAN6922 (have a Sylvania 1970s era one somewhere in my inventory).

thanks again!

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: Transparent shells are always a plus – here especially since you can see the 'magic tube'
Medium size - acceptable considering it is a decently large 11mm DD
A well-judged overall balance
Bass keeps up with the low lows while being punchy too
Vocals are present
Very good soundstage width
No apparent timbral issues
Fairly priced
Cons: Not the one for tech- or trebleheads
Very sparse accessories
Only a 3.5mm cable
Plasticky feel (but lightweight)
Short nozzle can be an issue for some

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: 1. Unique and elegant design
2. Uber compact and slim, truly portable
3. Plethora of connectivity options
4. Enough power to drive most headphones and IEMs except a stubborn few
5. Excellent soundstage and layering coupled with a slightly warm, organic sound signature
6. Highly resolving
Cons: 1. Gets slightly warm while in operation
2. All ports are on the same side
3. Slippery. Glass is glass and glass breaks therefore requires caution
4. Slight hiss with sensitive IEMs
Questyle is a highly consistent brand that has only produced bangers and not a single bad apple. This brand used to be a bit obscure in the Western market (probably due to a lack of...

Great review! 👍 Concerning input and outputs: I am happy they are on the same side. Otherwise it would not be portable. I wouldn’t be able to put it in my pocket together with my iPhone. On the desk, well, maybe, but as CMA18P is a „portable“ device, as says its name, I think they did the right design choice here.

Yes, it's an issue for me while using it with my desktop PC, but not with phones or when in BT mode (more of a personal gripe than a con really). I use it mostly for BT, lol, because the implementation is so good.

Very detailed review! Thanks for sharing!
I'm using it with an iPhone, so all the connections on the same side are perfect. The dimension is great, too, because it fits perfectly on the back of the cell. Hopefully, future versions can be thinner. Anyway, I have no complaints at all.

baskingshark

Headphoneus Supremus
Pros: Solid built
Ergonomic and light
Textured and clean bass
Good technicalities
Cons: No case or even a pouch for a $100ish USD set!
Not the easiest IEM to drive, due to lowish sensitivity
Below average isolation
Planar timbre
Potentially sibilant and fatiguing in the upper frequencies - not for treble-sensitive peeps

To your ears, is mid-blass bleed related to time (transient speed) or frequency (separation of mids and bass frequencies)? Some mean the latter, and in that case, the P1 Max II is definitely a mid-bass bleeding set.
baskingshark
baskingshark
Hi @MidnightSun , I would say it is probably both factors combined.

I find planar drivers (like in the P1 Max II) are usually more speedy than DD bass for example, and we also have to factor in the rest of the frequency response (not just the bass in isolation, but how it relates to the mids and treble). One also has to factor in hearing health, volume played at (Fletcher Munson curve), ear anatomy with eartips etc.

Nothing beats putting the IEM in the ears to have a listen, rather than just looking at a graph.

Quiet cable that holds nearly no memory
Decent detail/separation
Great tuning if you like neutrality
Cons: Bass can be a bit lacking if you prefer warmth
Can be a bit shouty with specific tracks
If you have small ears they can poke the top of the inside of your ear
Flimsy case that provides little protection
Narrow soundstage

Very fast charging only beaten by M23
Regulated Lineout is possible
