Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
Perhaps we are on about different things. I was referring to certain units which seem to be unique by deviation from what is norm. There was a guy on YouTube with his "unicorn" unit which differed from other units and was less peaky and bass extended more. Thats what I thought of when you...- SHAMuuu

Did you replace the 50mm with 40mm?? Also how did you remove the original driver from the baffle? IIRC they are glued in- SHAMuuu

Hello Beyerdynamic, are you there??
Thanks for the info. I'll probably have to Frankenstein a Frankenbeyer at some point. Which is not a bad thing :p- SHAMuuu

New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation
Have a Gen II myself but the Lawton modded older Denon and Fostex variants give it a run for it's money. The sub bass of the bio cellulose and the slightly more balanced signature with the massive wooden chambers make it quite a nice closed back with plenty of pad rolling options to suit ones tastes- SHAMuuu

Hello Beyerdynamic, are you there??
Would you have any idea if the headbands are interchangable? Like the pro headband fitting the Tesla models for example. I wouldn't mind a slightly more skull crushing experience. Which has the highest clamp among Beyer? The old-school pro?- SHAMuuu

Hello Beyerdynamic, are you there??
Mostly gen I/gen II. Did they fix all the issues on Gen III? Anyway I do look forward to their new creations. I can never truly hate Beyer :p- SHAMuuu

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)
The funny thing with love/hate tuning headphones is that one will walk down the path of pad rolling. In other words, the will to burn a few extra Dollars to tilt the scale XD- SHAMuuu

Hello Beyerdynamic, are you there??
Beyer has left a sour taste in my mouth in the past few years. Just comparing some older closed backs to a more modern Tesla, was shocked at how flimsy the newer Tesla was. Loose headband adjustment, grill possibly glued on as it's not super sturdy. Headband was slightly sticky. Terrible...- SHAMuuu

The Stax Thread III
Have you experienced the open Fostex models by any chance? It's interesting this Klipsch open back bio cellulose came before the new Fostex. Nice to see that model in picture! Quite rare now- SHAMuuu

What exactly was the recommendation? To use the black silk? Did the grill swap change anything or merely for more subtle aesthetics?- SHAMuuu

Not sure about the other fella, but I took a driver from 580 and transplanted into new shell so I can have I) increased clamp Ii) new cable As much as I love 580 it was too loose and the sound was better with tighter clamp. And the old cable is not that good. I've heard 660s2 and there is...- SHAMuuu

Is sub-bass a must in modern pop ahd hip hop tracks (with EDM elements)?
Why 990 and not the 770 80 ohm? The latter would provide that extension required to satisfy the sub bass need Unless you just have to have open back like hd600- SHAMuuu

The 580/600/650 drivers come off quite easily and the risk of damage is minimal if you watch a video on them before attempting. However, the 660s/2 is two piece driver and more difficult to remove and IME they required the springs to be put back in Although the risk of damage is minimal...- SHAMuuu

AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE
There was 2000 ohm DT100 which has the spookiest most silent blackness background and the voices are so realistic. Also noticed differences between the 32 ohm, 80, 250, 600 , and 2000 Though oddly their 5 ohm and 25 ohm are deadly silent. So both points are valid- SHAMuuu

I like this explanation of having minimal coloration. In that; you can shape the sound to your desire. Or for professionals to match their systems in studio. Most drivers seem to have sweet spots in terms of volume sometimes and when I'm other regions the sounds fall apart. Or driver rub...- SHAMuuu

AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE
Yes I believe ZMF has the 300ohm biocellulose drivers and their own special line of amps As well as Philiphone? They have the custom 300ohm in the Audio Technica air wing shell. But like some of the above comments it's not a hard written rule The "KING" R10 IIRC is 32ohm so XD- SHAMuuu

Very true. Even the Foster biodyna in the Denon/ Fostex line is very annoying to deal with with tubes since they have low impedance. I've had some luck with OTC low gain and tube buffer like ifi itube to get the tube flavor with less background noise.- SHAMuuu

So I have seen people use open back but very rarely in public. For example on the subway. So for audio books or mostly dialogue based it's not a problem. And yes since people do talk on the plane and airline staff etc, plus plane engine noise, they all will overpower any leakage of such low...- SHAMuuu

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
Having the sr-5nb (Gold) and hearing the x9k , your explanation is clear to me. Though one can influence sr-5 with different pads. So I am hoping that the X1 also can have that luxury in case the pads are not up to snuff I'm other words it would be awesome if the x9k pads worked nicely...- SHAMuuu

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
As long as it's closer to the smooth x9k sig and not on thinner and bright that would be awesome It would be nice to have round stax. I cannot help but wonder if 007/x9kx pads would fit on them as they both feel nice Sr-5 allowed for every pad imaginable since it accommodated your typical...- SHAMuuu
