    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

I've been working since May but was sitting for 4 months. Rest of the year looks crap so hopefully this job lasts for a couple more months. No worries, got some money saved we'll make it through

I'm sure we've all spent plenty of money on audio but I don't think I could ever justify more than $2000-$3000 for any one piece of equipment. Of course you factor in that you can resell stuff which makes the next thing easier to buy but yea This year has sucked for work in my state as a Union...

I'm curious too. Everyone keeps saying they're the exact same tube just one costs less

I don't have experience with the 650/6xx but do listen to plenty of rock type music and it all sounds really good. The S2 scales tremendously for me when I went from the Lyr+ to the Wa6 SE. With rock, I'm hearing clear and crunchy guitars and synths playing a bit softer and in the background...

So I've got a Psvane WE274B and some more 6FD7s on the way from my guy. I really liked the Psvanes in my Lyr and I'm hearing good things about this one. I'll likely roll everything over again and see what I like best

Agreed. The tube amp isn't making my s2 sound great, it already sounded great to me in the first place. It is just making what was already great sound that much better. Now it's like the S2 is on steroids lol I'm buying some more tubes to try out from my guy that sold me the Wa6 so I'm excited...

The S2 scales quite nicely. I loved them on my Lyr+ and love love them on my Wa6 SE. They sound surprisingly huge with the tube amp and the imaging is some of the best I've heard. I've also been noticing the dynamics lately and there's no bass shyness going on. Enjoy!

Extend the earcups all the way out and bend the metal parts outwards. Or place it on a box larger than itself. They tend to loosen up nicely

Yes the FD seem to be the winner. They make my 660s2 sound like a planar with delicious mids. I feel like I'm on psychedelics when I'm listening lol. I'm debating looking at other rectifiers and maybe another brand of FD

It's absolutely gorgeous is what it is lol Yea I'm really torn between this 6FD7 and 6DE7. I love how thick and full of bass the 6FD7, it has a rounded treble so it's softer while I enjoy the clarity and sharpness of the 6DE7 but it's missing some of that thickness. I need one in the middle lol

Beautiful Did not enjoy the Sylvania 6EW7. Everything was small, thin, and muddy. The Westinghouse 6EW7 is nicer. Good treble, lots of detail, sounds larger. 6FD7 still my favorite so far but this one is good too RCA 6EW7 was best of the 6EW7s. Was soft, but sounded full and enveloping...

Am about 30 minutes into my first listening session with the Brimar 5z4gy and some RCA 6FD7 Coming from the Lyr+, quite the step up. My 660s2 sound massive, everything is taller, wider. It's like I'm in this black void surrounded by massive sounds. Music is totally ethereal, sounds are...
