Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!
trying in vain to capture how stupendously shiny this thing looks at Starbucks, with the bright overhead lights. You never know what angle will make the blue steel actually blue, but you can just barely see a little here. I honestly like when the hands are just black though, it's more gothic.- OM hawk

The Drinking Fountain - Full-Size Headphone Discussion
Just got done reading through this, cool thread, bros! Couple things I'll chime in on: 1. Closed VS Open: In my opinion, the concept of the portable/Closed back headphone rig is a good one, that opens up enough new and various possibilities for headphone listening to make it worthwhile for most...- OM hawk

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
So here's what I THOUGHT was going to be the Final Ultimate Doomsday version of my portable "Broccoli Rig". The big upgrade here is a glorious custom-re-jiggered palladium coated silver cable which costs over 4 times the price of the respectable Cardas copper cable I was using. This is the Opus...- OM hawk

Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus coming?
If you're familiar with the Sr80 line, the Sr80i was less bright than the current Sr80X. I like the HD490 Pro because its like the Sr80i, it does have a little brightness, but less than a lot of Grados do. Another example is the Sr225e, that is also brighter than the Sr80i/HD490 Pro.- OM hawk

Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus coming?
I don't know about the open backed NDH30, but I can certainly say that the closed NDH20 is a fundamentally different sound from the HD490 Pro. We're not talking about lemons to limes here, it is apples to oranges, they're not interchangeable. The soundstage of the 490 is not that much larger...- OM hawk

Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus coming?
Just got my HD490 Pro! In my opinion this is a fantastic physical design in terms of comfort and practicality, and when you actually hold it in your hand, it feels premium and has a sense of classy, understated style going on. I like the rough texture of the plastic and the soft furry feeling of...- OM hawk

Arctic Cables Discussion Thread
So, I just did a direct A-B comparison battle between the NDH20 Black Edition with Opus/Micro iDSD Finale, and Rad-0 with Opera/Hugo 2. Of course, the Rad-0 eventually won this battle, but the interesting thing was, the area where the NDH20 came closest was the raw detail retrieval. The Micro...- OM hawk

Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus coming?
I just ordered a pair of these, as a necessary counterpart to my 600 gram Rosson Rad-0. That's 340 grams lighter! I know people in this thread were curious how the HD490 Pro compares to the NDH30, and while I don't have one of those, I do have an NDH20 Black Edition which I'm very familiar with...- OM hawk

iFi Audio GO Bar Kensei... The Ultimate GO Bar Has Arrived!
I am pleased by this development. It's great that something roughly on the level of the GOld Bar will be available to the Average Joe Audiophile, and more optional modes are always welcome!! Of course, I'd be even more pleased if iFi cranked out some insane, limited edition Ultra Doomsday Dongle...- OM hawk

Rosson Audio Design RAD-0 - Alex's Beautiful New Baby
Holy moly, only 69 pages, for such a great headphone! That's ok, it's a great number anyway. Speaking of numbers, rad-0 number 494, Pink Floyd, checking in. Proud to be part of such an underdog thread. Since my previous posts here, I have had my mega high end palladium coated silver cable...- OM hawk

Arctic Cables Discussion Thread
There's something distinctly euphonic and pleasant about how the NDH20 Black Edition sounds with the Opus, it's like removing the smoothness of the Cardas Copper cable revealed another more subtle, refined smoothness underneath it. Part of this is that the Gold Bar is slightly smooth, but part...- OM hawk

Arctic Cables Discussion Thread
I finally got (and extensively burned in) my twisted Opus cable for my Neumann NDH20 Black Edition, and at long last, I can now say this portable rig is DONE... because every single part if it is utterly maximized in terms of accomplishing its True Portable (but wired) high isolation closed back...- OM hawk

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
The Postman - 1997. I rate it 5 stars out of five. Story, soundtrack, characters, sci fi concept, unforgettable pure evil (but also pure human) villain, there's a hefty handful of things to enjoy about this movie, and it's so difficult for me to understand why some folks don't. It's about 3...- OM hawk
