Just got the HD800S for my DX9, swapped the connector to balanced and noticed one of the earpiece connectors came loose during the swap. Filed an RMA. Replacement is due in a week, new one will also come with the 6.35 inch single ended cable pre-fitted (which I definitely won't change this time...

That's insane. Still, I think my Topping DX9 at 7W per channel should keep it fed properly. The bit about roll of around 32hz, is it audible under that frequency? Some reviews mention the bass as well textured and extremely fast. (almost estat like)

Why not EQ in some bass just for gaming?

Here is another $20,000+ chain feeding the HD800S. It really does scale. The only other headphones I know to scale consistently like this are the Susvara.

That chain you've got going into your HD800S 🤯🤯Im shocked it can scale so high. I think the headphone itself is one of your more "budget" buys. Could you share some pics? I'm curious at how you managed to zero in on everything.

The HD800 and 820 reviews are totally different. The spaciousness that makes the HD800 perfect for gaming is totally lost with the 820 😔

If EDM is what I wanted to listen to, I'd prefer something like an Audeze. I don't think there's much application of a wide soundstage in EDM. I tried listening to EDM on my Edition XS, and the bass still comes up short. For HD800 I would definitely use it for a wide range of music(but not EDM!)

I am genuinely curious to know how the HE1000SE(Not Stealth) compares to the wide soundstage and precise imaging of the HD800S. Some say the Sennheiser is still better at both.

Are there any closed backs in the same league as HD800s or HE1KSE?

May I know what chain you fed into the HD800S? From all the reviews I've seen, it seems to be incredibly source picky. More so than even the HE1000SE. I have a Topping DX9, so I guess absolute clean power with headroom shouldn't be a problem. This is a wild guess but I think this is why the...

The HD800S by far seems like the most divisive headphone talked about online. Some are wowed by it, but equally as many are not impressed whatsoever. I have been asking around on r/headphones and it's the same thing. Hell, even the YouTube content is somewhat divisive.

I think they reworked the magnets on the SE. The SE can be tuned to sound almost exactly like a Stealth but not vice-versa. They also have different sensitivities.
