...clipping! You might as well just download the mp3's because this album has worse production than californication. Corgan decided to make the loudest album possible so whats left is a mess of compression and digital artifacts.

The album itself is Corgans best work since Mellencollie and the Infinite Sadness. I command you to check it out... there are much better songs then "Honestly".

i gave this album a quick listen during the week and found the clipping to be a bit extreme too. is this what music has come to?

And I thought it was my stereo making Californication sound bad..

Ugh, we wanted to get the Zwan cd too. See? This is what I'm talking about... great music let down by crappy production. Do these guys not have any ears at all?

There's nothing wrong with DDD recordings when its done with DAT

I agree that the songs are too loud!!! It really pissed me off because this is the 2nd cd in row that I purchased and has the same production problems. The other cd is Gordian Knot's "Emergent". What are these people thinking? It makes you wonder if they even bother to listen to the consumer pressing before it is released. I'm wondering if some massaging can be done with an audio editor...

Corgan made a statement after many fans complained that the album was defective. What he said was along the lines of we wanted to make the loudest album ever and give it a 70's analog feel. Too bad no one had the guts to tell him that clipping, heavy compression and digital artifacts do not recreate the sound of analog distortion. While the album is generating positive reviews, alot of producers are ripping it apart.

Hehe, if he wanted that 70's analog feel he should've used analog reels...this doesn't make any sense. From what i recall recordings in the 70's weren't all that loud to begin with. I think they just ****ed up.

amen to that. an AAD recording would've been very lovely, and then AAA on the vinyl.

oh well.

I seem to remember it being horribly produced as well.

Yep! Very loud and thick sounding...not very well produced. Wanna laugh? I have this boot of MCIS sessions (analog tape>cdr) and the legit album doesnt sound that much better...that's scary. Although the Adore demo boot i have sounds wonderful

Not suprising... the Ava Adore cd sounds like it was much better produced. Very lush-sounding. Of course I liked Adore as an album much better than Machina, and the sound quality has a lot to do with that.

Same here, i thought Adore was an amazing album, too bad all those "fans" didn't feel the same way
