Ordered a new chassis and headband from Zach 2 weeks ago because my old one was heavily scratched because of my old desk, installed them yesterday and now my verite looks just like new

Notes after 24-hours of burn-in on the African Blackwoods

Sound:

Creamy, dreamy harmonically complex sound. Notes have a polished roundness to them. Nothing is smeared. Excellent weight to the sound. Robust, refined with power. More 3-D depth to the notes. They almost have similar characteristics to a very special NOS tube. Hard to explain but these are different for sure. Again a VERY harmonically complex sound.

On the weight of the headphone:

The headphones are heavy but balanced. You feel like your putting something special on your ears. Regal feeling. It's got to be the weight because 100% truth be told these are a heavy pair of Verite. Does the special character of the sound that the wood imparts outweigh the added weight? Yes absolutely!

Arrived today and already sounds great out of the box- this is the Blackwood version /w rose gold grilles and rods. I actually wasn't sure I had made the right choice with rose gold, but was looking for a warm and inviting colorway and am very happy I stuck with it.

Give me a day or two and I'll break out the kitchen scale and get a proper weight. I'll also weight the Purpleheats. Would be interesting to know for sure.

Your guess was actually quite spot on. RobertSM has black grille and rod which are relatively lighter than say copper/steel ( about 25-30g heavier).
