Thanks I thought that was the case. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s a very comfortable design. The headband above just applies pressure to the wider strap below. Doesn’t seem like it achieves much - from pictures I thought it was fully suspended with a small gap between the strap below and the band above but in practice it isn’t.
You should try the suede strap. It is shorter than the leather strap and will actually suspend relative to the upper band. At least with the non crescent version. Not sure if it will on the crescent band but I would guess it would suspend more than the leather still.

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I could also get one made locally that was a little shorter so that it never touches the upper band.

Man, I wish there was a middle ground between the BE2 Pads and the Universe Pads, that would really be something. I would pay $180 for those pads.

I like the overall even tonality of the BE2s but they are missing the fast transients and the lower bass and depth of the Universe Pads.
I might even resort to modding the pads myself. hmph

My experience with the suede strap, which is indeed shorter and created a gap between the strap and the headband, was that it actually created a hotspot on my head. So in my experience, transferring all the weight from headband to strap made the comfort far worse, not better. When I mentioned it here, folks reacted with their positive experiences, so I guess it strongly depends per person, mainly the size and shape of one's head.

I have quite heavy ZMFs (610g + 570g) and use both with the classic headband and suede strap to comfort my small head and give more adjustment space with the rods.
The leather strap on the loaner units I had was fine with the low weight stock woods but I expected I need more comfort with the heavy limited woods.

I don't have any hotspots or wearing fatigue. I can wear my ZMFs for hours without bugging me and I'm a nitpicky person. Weight is fairly well distributed, suede has a nice soft touch on the skin (I'm bald and shave my head) and everything is very comfortable. You don't forgot you are wearing a bulky headphone that makes you look silly like princess Lea but it doesn't annoy me in any way.

I have ordered a Camphor burl VO in ZMF November and I guess it will arrive with the new Cresent headband and suede strap. Camphor burl will not be very heavy but maybe the comfort will increase even more over the classic headband.
Maybe it will be comfortable like a Meze Empyrean strap that touches the sides of the head.

If thats the case, and it was for myself as well, I think the golden pad you wanna pay $180 for (LOL) would be the Universe solid hybrid pads. These will give you all the depth and bass response of the universe pads, but the also be a more dynamic than the lambskin variants. The suede lifts up the mids and upper mids, while maintaining the tightness and slam of the low end. Give those a shot. I think you might just find what youre looking for.

Wow, I would be interested to hear how perforated pads fare on the VC but I'm sure there is to be some kind of compromise with a pairing like that, did you ever notice anything weird with the tonality or any kind of weird roll offs with the Universe Perforated Hybrids?

Sorry bro, I did not mean to type perf. It should be solid Universe hybrid pads. my previous post has been corrected. As per zach and other members here, closed back zmfs should use solid pads only. Sorry for the TYPO.

As for pads, I also enjoy Auteur hybrid pads as well as Auteur lambskin pads. The hybrids will enhance the mids while taming the treble a little as well as control the low end a tad bit. The Auteur pads will add some width to the VC sound but may lack the 3d/holographic properties that the universe pads introduce. Since the VC is closed back, i personally prefer the auteur pads since they widens the sound. With the VO, i prefer the perf universe pad /variants.

My reason for not liking the verite or BE2 pads on any zmf cans is my big elephant ears. Those pads are too shallow and my ears touch the driver which ends up being a little uncomfortable when worn for a long time. Other wise, i would hands down recommend BE2 pads for both VO and VC.

Hope this helps.

Ahh, I have the Universe Hybrids but at first listen it sounded like a slower and peakier Universe pad. I will give it a more thorough listen later.
Listening to the Autuer Lambskins atm and wow, I thought these sounded like poop early on but these actually don't sound so bad, the soundstage is better than the Universe pads and the upper mids are crispier. Does sound a teeny bit congested compared to most of the other pads, the Auteur Hybrids I felt were also lacking in the lower end but I may have to buy them for an extended listen.

I have no idea how I'm back in the Pad hunt once again, sigh.....

Have been listening with VC for a long time now on my SW51+ and BF2. Just for the change of palate I plugged in my VO and then after a day got back to VC. Right off the bat VC sounds thicker and with rounder transient especially in vocals. Some songs are great on VC and some on VO. I can see someone preferring VO vocals over VC but somehow I like the vocals in VC. It’s cozy and thick. Just the right thing for winter night

Anyone else on here ever compared the normal Lambskin Verite Pads vs the Lambskin BE2 Pads?

They're almost the same but the opening of the diameter are different (Verite=Rounder & BE2=Oval-like).

I have them both but haven’t compared them yet. Maybe when I get the time I will get around to it.

Oh my god, stop this porn.

Well, I guess I might as well add to the collection :) A lower angle shot of my stabilized VC that brings out the "angel" pattern a bit more (or demon lord as someone else earlier in the thread put it, lol)
