My desert ironwood VCs arrived today. they are heavier than VO, but not uncomfortably
Are ZMF Auteur pads just larger version on ZMF Universe pads? or more angled as well? they seem pretty similar to me

on the VC i really can't tell a difference between the Auteur and Universe pads visually. they seem to have the same size ear opening, thickness, and overall dimensions. this is in contrast to the Auteur perf pads that are on my Auteur, which have a noticeably larger ear opening compared to my Univers perf pads. i honestly thought maybe i got two of the same types of pads with my VC. i never bothered to mention it though. anyone else find their Auteur and Universe solid leather pads that came stock with the VC are visually identical? i even swapped them out to see if they sounded different, but they didn't. i wish there was identifying markers on the pads, would take the guesswork out of things like this.

Mine just arrived and the pads do look the same - maybe the Auteur pads on the VCs are thicker than the Universe pads in the case? I don't know, everything a bit squished when I opened the box, will let them breath and expand!

For VC I went with seahorse case as I already have Wood case from VO. Since I travel a lot so opted for security of seahorse for closed back version. However if you are the one who is going to keep it at home then go for Woodcase and you can always get seahorse case later from Amazon or something
