The sets I'm going to send out will be burned in ahead of time.  They should sound the same unless they get dunked in a pool of water or worn in the rain or something!

Water? Rain?

Has it been determined whether the tour models will be cherry or walnut?

No....do you guys have a preference?

My vote would be for whichever provides the clearer vision of what you think of as the Omni-sound. That said, I really like the look of the walnut.

Haha, they all have the "Omni" sound, the difference is more like what kind of seasoning you use on your steak.  If that makes sense lol.

Haha, seasoning can make a big difference though.

Like provel on a pizza (St. Louis cheese) vs. plain mozzarella. Or the water used in the dough  (which they did studies to find that actually makes quite a bit of difference.)

In that case, I'll take my steak with blackened seasonings.

(Though I know, of course, the Blackwood Omni is still in the offing, after the pre-order period.) Given what some, e.g. Levaix in the other thread, have said about the walnut, i.e. that it adds perhaps a pinch of analyticity to an already juicy steak, my vote goes for the walnut.

From Zach's email:

"I will be sending a Blackwood ZMF Omni to accompany it next week, so that you all can compare the Cherry set to the Blackwood set."

This is amaze-balls!  Thanks Zach.  I'm kinda hoping to be in the later part of the tour, maybe September.  Then I'll have my Liquid Carbon to listen to them with...

Hah!  I think there's numerous people on the tour who feel the same way!

I second the amaze-ballsness. Such an awesome surprise when I got the email. Seriously stoked to hear the Blackwood set. I'd thought they wouldn't be available until after the preorder period. This is going to be good.
