I think I'm after you! And yes, I am liking the growth of the Glenn OTL/Auteur owners club!

It’s the best club!

Its going to be a long while before I can grab the Auteur, but my brother has his currently "in assembly" phase, and he has been asking about ordering a Glenn for himself.

We’ll amend that to ZMF + Glenn club. :D

Ouch! That grain is fantastic! Enjoy them!
How heavy do they feel? Cocobolo is denser than Teak so I guess they would wheight around the 560~590gr mark.

I'm still all for the Blackwood though :)

Weight is feels just about right. The Auteur is really comfortable and I don’t think anyone will have problems wearing it for long periods.

More vanity shots to of the cocobolo Auteur (next to the mighty Abyss no less!)

It is somewhat misleading statement for many. More correctly, perhaps, someone who can wear Abyss AB-1266 Phi for long periods will find Auteur very comfortable and suitable for a very long listening session.

I'll be really curious to hear your thoughts comparing Auteur and Abyss Phi.

IMHO the Phi punches way harder than the Auteur and extends a touch higher as well. Sound stage for the Phi is a touch wider than then Auteur but I think the Auteur has a better depth. The thing with the Auteur is that there is a certain sweetness in the sound signature which seems just right for me, furthermore the Auteur pairs really well with the Hugo2. To me, the Auteur compliments the Phi nicely. These are 2 headphones which I will never let go!

I auditioned the phi and was impressed but i literally hate and don't understand its structural integrity so to speak lol... Are you by chance using a tube amp ? And or the warm pads ? The suede pads give insane midbass it makes the auteurs sound a little bit more like hd650s imo(but obv better in every way)

I can totally understand what you are saying with regards on the Phi. I'm currently driving both headphones with the audio-gd NFB-1AMP while waiting for my Glenn EL3N to be built. The Auteur can be driven directly by the Hugo2, but it really responds well to having more power thrown at it as bass & body seems to be improved. However, I felt that there is a small lost in transparency by driving the Auteur through the audio-gd amp.

The pads which I am using now are the stock pads which came on the Auteurs and they should be the warm pads. But I'm not too sure about that.

Now that I have about 10 hours on the Auteur, I feel that that the sound is getting better. Compared to the Phi, the Auteur sounds more "organic" and the perception of depth is more obvious. Notes seems to have a longer decay and I think it sounds amazing with jazz vocals and rock music. I believe the Auteur will get better as I continue to run them in.

Happy days ahead! :L3000:
