oh, huge collection) I can’t afford to have more than 2-3 experience headphones at a time - so I try to keep the rule from old Russian animation - “to buy something unnecessary you should sell something unnecessary first”) thank you for your comparison, think it’s useful)

Yep, my procrastination is epic. I need to treat my original expenditure as a sunk cost.

    Found your PM!

Quickest way for anyone to reach me is email at contactzmf@gmail.com - my PMs build up rather fast and I dont answer them as much as email.

Got a Lemo to mini-xlr adapter from Ted @ Headphone Lounge. Now rocking my Auteur with adapted Lazuli Ref cable. Prefer it to the Silver Dragon I had been using.

Prefer the Silver Dragon with Empyrean though, more so than Empy/Lazuli.

Props to Ted: nice workmanship, reasonable pricing, quick turn-around.

This wood is quite pretty. A more visually engaging variant of straight maple (a wood I've worked with for many years). I'll bet a slightly darker color (ie, honey, ranging up to maple syrup color) would be very interesting looking.

I'm interested what sonic attributes, if any, you ascribe to maple in general (ambrosia maple being regular maple that Ambrosia beetles got into). I know maple is used extensively in guitars, primarily for necks. Just wondering if you could contrast A. maple to teak, which it will be replacing.

    (thanks!)

These are flat-out beautiful. Most cocobolo contains red & maroon shades--not continuously, but in grain banding. That's very pretty, but to me, even prettier is cocobolo w/less red/maroon & more shades of brown/tan, like this pair. Really striking wood.

I feel when it comes to wooden earcups for headphones, ZMF is penthouse level, with everybody else on floors below.

Yeah, big shoutout to Zach for picking out such nice earcups (even though I was probably a huge PITA during the ordering process)!

I'll never admit to wholeheartedly agreeing with that comment. Never!

    (I said "penthouse," not "cathouse.")

    FWIW:

I found that lining the Auteurs lambskin perf pads with Sennie HD 650 inside pads sounds incredibly right in my system! Adds just a hint of overall warmth. A touch more fullness in the lower mids and a pleasing smothing and slight reduction of treble energy. I don't notice any other effects maybe a hint of transient softening. But the tone and harmonics are very pleasing and the Auteurs are easier to listen to!

    Happy Listening,
    Jgwtriode

Does anyone here have experience with ZMF's German distributor, the Headphone Company?
I might be purchasing the Auteur and they're the closest source to where I live. Just wondering how reliable they are.

Thomas (Headphone Company Owner) has been great as a dealer for us, very hands on and he makes sure the customer gets what they need. I know he works with other US brands as well and we have been happy with him and I have heard from some of his customers that things have gone well!

Alright, thanks a lot for the heads up, Zach. I will contact them and see how things stand.
I hope I'll be able to brag about owning a pair of your headphones soon.
