Have moded DSDs on 9038 and Hiby R6 Pro. In my case DSDs sounds better on low and mid frequencies, Hiby on high, but worse on low

Here Hiby R5, ZiShan DSD's and U1, as we have discussed the ZiShan devices are for modding, totally different as the mainstream, I think my DSD's sounds better than R5 in SE using Sen HD660s and Onkyo HF300. But I think is due to the limitation of Voltage used in R5 (+-5V) against (+-9V) of DSD's.

@Leonne we have inverted channels L/R -> R/L for now and sound from 3,5 and balanced is diferent. I can't compare accurate with inverted channels.
As a @Mr.HiAudio I can say my modded DSDs Dual AK4497 is overall better than stock Z4.
One aspect is better control and energy on balanced output in Z4
I'm wating for parts to mod Z4 but I'm really demotivated by inverted channels and this horrible buttons.

I think that you can do the following with buttons: 1) simply by sawing them into pieces and sharpening them.

Or 3D printing... I will try to do at least something, but, as for me, it will still be faster to cut

@Mr.HiAudio it's a greate idea I will do this in my mod list as well.

Zishan Z4
Unfinished premium Player for 100$ instead of finished for 1000$.

Last foundling:
In USB DAC and DAP function left-right channel is correct.

In Bluetooth is reversed L/R -> R/L

The Z4 has arrived and I am happy with the linearity of the frequency response of the SE and Balanced outputs. And also with the output impedance.

SE Phone Output max voltage without clipping (33 Ohms)

Zishan Z4 3.5mm.png

4.4mm Output max voltage without clipping (33 Ohms)

Zishan Z4 4.4mm.png

For balance it doesn't sound bad at all, in my first impressions. It is perhaps a bit warm, with a slight boost in the low frequencies.
The operation of the buttons is really bad, they are hard and not very responsive.
I didn't find that the channels sound switched in SE or 4.4mm, the left side sounds on the left channel and the right on the right.

@Mr.HiAudio @cqtek
I found solutions for buttons.
It's a 2 screws on the bottom of PCB with glue on the top. They are regulating hardness of buttons by micro adjusting space between housing and PCB on front side. You can loose and hear the sound of them but also find sweet spot :)

Finally I found sweet spot for my Z4:
1) Remove foam from buttons
2) Loose 2 lower screws about in half
Works way better.

Buttons looks like that:

BT anthena can be modded as well
for longer or different shape.

Okay now I'm confused....

5 days ago during testing tracks, z4 shows 16bit for my 24bit files.

Now, playing the same 24bit files, zishan shows 32bits.

Is this some sort of a firmware problem?
I had same, showing 32-bit in 24-bit album, it's a firmware bug for sure. But it's working, so... not bad at all.

BTW
Replacing LPF op amps should be with removed LCD screen for protection, but is not easy to dissemble, it's really strong glue pad.

8K Cover Art supported 7680x4320 pixels 4MB JPEG - tested and working!
1000x1000 same speed as without art cover
2000x2000 fast loading
4000x4000 1,5 second to load
7680x4320 need 3 seconds to load but showing without issues.

Regarding the L and R channel switch, there is a bug in Z3, when I pause the music (I use FLAC), sometimes after I resume play the channels are switched (I don't have Z4). A way to get the bug in z3 is to pause and resume a few times pressing the center button.

New firmware thanks to Huo Guang
Fixed Bluetooth L/R channel + performance system optimization
Still V0.1 number

How to install:
  1. drag z4app.bin to SD card at first window
  2. restart device without USB cable
  3. wait until setup erase flash and copy new system
  4. fresh system will boot up automatically
  5. delete z4app.bin file from SD
  6. set up language and your favorite options because of factory reset

in my case with channel was OK.

First "mod": remove scotch tape

Now click better 😄👍
no need to cut the button and print it on a 3D printer 😄

Yes I did the same but I just put a black tape on the center and up button.
I'm just wonder if OPA2134 LPF will be ok for Z4.
all the same, the buttons are poorly pressed, I do not press up and to the right. all the same I will make a 3d print
