Basically I intend to stay as small as possible. If it does not hurt soundwise. So far my favourite therefore is a mini USB-DAC is the M-Audio Transit, a basic no nonsense thing as small as they get. (Even a Fubar II is a box too big for me, if one can call this cute little thing big anyway).
But I too have noticed the big wave of interest in the Zhaolou DAC and ask myself now, whether I should go that way and accept a standard amp box on my table as a "mere" DAC. (I would not use it as an headphone amp as I have ordered a Headfive already). Price difference is no argument as both DACs are more ore less in the same under 150€-200$ range. Does it sound noticable different and better than the Transit?
