I would like to listen to my SACD collection on my Zen but I'm in need of some advice to be able to do it. I know this is somewhat off topic but I promise not to make a habit of it. The only analog input on my on my dac/headphone amp is the 3.5 input normally used to connect a phone or dap. I'm trying to connect my sacd player directly to the amp using RCA to 3.5 interconnects. I know this connection is far from ideal but seems my only choice other than buying new equipment. I tried this as a test and as you would expect I'm getting crackling sounds from the mismatch of the devices. I definitely will need to attenuate the signal from my SACD player RCA outputs to the 3.5 analog input of my dac/amp. The specifications of my sacd player and dac/amp are as follows:

Denon DCD-A100 SACD player output:
2.0V / 10Kohms

Marantz HD-DAC1 input sensitivity / impedance:
200MV rms / 22Kohms

Can any of you guys who know a lot more about this stuff than I ever will tell how many decibels of attenuation I would need? Thanks in advance

You are going to have to attenuate your SACD player's output voltage quite a bit.

Without getting too technical, all you need to do is connect a basic passive attenuator (like the Schiit SYS) between the player and the amp, turn the attenuator all the way down, then while music is playing, start to turn the attenuator up until the sound starts to clip/distort, then turn it down a little until it stops distorting.

It's definitely not an ideal solution, but it should fix your problem.

Actually, maybe a better solution would be to get a nice headphone amp that has two RCA inputs, and that would allow you to easily switch between your SACD player and your DAC.

What about the cheaper models in the ECLIPS3 platform? any news?

They did show a prototype on the DUNU Facebook page. It's not named I think, but supposedly a less cost entry into this new technology.

according to hifigo, It is called EST112 (1DD+1BA+2EST)

Yup, that's correct lol

They posted a teaser back in early January, and I was able to guess that it was gonna have an EST as one of the drivers used.

Now I'm just hoping I'd get a chance to try it soon too!

Stunning looking iems. Gotta give you guys that took awesome pictures on it credit, might be the most difficult iem to take pictures on. :joy:

I havent done anything else other than taking these pictures though so cut me some slack on the questions on the sound lol.

On another note, what do you guys think about this picture taking setup? Do you prefer this or my regular setup?

They’re such beauties aren’t they? Lol
It took me two shooting sessions before I could finally listen to them. So I understand how you feel buddy 😂

Oh man, I’d love to take photos of the FD5 someday too!

And for me personally, I like your regular setup better.

Great stuff!

My regular setup wasnt big enough for all the accessories this time lol. It would have been a bit too cramped.

Btw, I just measured the cable and the adapters.

4.4.mm: 0.22ohms

3.5.mm: 0.21ohms

2.5.mm: 0.23ohms

Seems the difference might be up to unit variation as its only 0.02 difference from the least to the highest.
