I'm debating whether to get the Tritton Headphones with the Dolby Digital decoder off ebay for around $100 or just use my Z-5500 Control panel headphone jack and buy some lowerend HD 201's , HD 202's or HD 212's.

1 - When using the Z-5500 Headphone jack, Do i still get my 5.1 Dobly Digital or DTS?

I only use my Z-5500 with my PS3 and Xbox 360 and I'm doing this for gaming at night

The Z-5500 headphone jack is just a pass through. Same as plugging into your computer.

Only difference is you get to control the volume with the control pod.

So would I just get 2 channel aka left and right, not 5.1?

Yes only 2 channel, I am pretty certain. I had that set, and the headphone jack did nothing but be a pass through. Few others have mentioned it too.
